Peacefully in his 80th year, Norm passed away at the Wynfield LTC in Oshawa.
Affectionately known as Shorty or Stormin' Norman, he was born on January 2, 1935 in Bowmanville ON. Raised in Courtice and Ajax but Lived in Oshawa for his adult life.
Predeceased by his parents Hugh and Ruth Short of Courtice.
Survived by his son and daughter-in-law Danny and Karen Short (nee Tanner) of Yellowknife NWT, his daughter and son-in-law Susan and David Jenkins recently of Invermere BC, his daughter Gail Short and her partner Steven Campney of Oshawa. His grandchildren Laura and Aaron Jenkins of Invermere and Tanner and Dylan Short of Yellowknife. Former husband of Donna Wood (nee Montgomery) of Oshawa.
Norman was a 35-year employee of General Motors of Canada, beginning his employment working on the Boy's Line and was a foreman on the Hardware Line in the Truck Plant when he retired. He also served on the Supervisors' Council during the later years of his employment.
An avid sportsman, outdoorsman and downhill skier, Shorty was a member of the Oshawa Ski Club for 57 years. He was awarded a Lifetime Membership for his service to the club. He was longtime member of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) and was a former instructor and owner/director of the ski-snow school at the Oshawa Ski Club for a number of years. Norm loved nothing more than introducing people to the sport of downhill skiing.
