It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our dear Alice Margaret Rosamond Stephens (nee Howe) at the age of 83 at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
The beloved wife and best friend of Donald Oliver Stephens for 63 years, Alice is predeceased by her parents James and Bessy (MacKay) Howe, and infant twin sister Alma Grace Howe.
Cherished mother of son Mark (I-Ching Lu), daughter Laura Mathews (Shane) and daughter Jennifer Braid (Rob).
Loving and devoted grandmother of Kyle, Connor, Cameron, Marlee, Jacob and Hannah.
Alice loved her family and instilled in them strong values that have served them well; she treasured and embraced every moment with them, will be dearly missed and forever be in their hearts. She will be greatly missed by sister-in-law Judith Stephens Rapson, childhood friend Arlene MacIntosh, her extended family at St. Timothy’s Presbyterian Church and countless friends everywhere.
Alice’s life was one of helping, caring and serving. For 44 years she was a faithful and active member, ordained elder and choir member at St. Timothy’s Church, Ajax Ontario.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the McEachnie Family Centre, 20 Church Street N., Ajax, Ontario on January 3rd 2024, from 1pm-4pm. A future Memorial Church Service is being arranged. An inurnment will take place in MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY, Whitby, Ontario at a later date.
The family thank all of the wonderful staff at Bethany Lodge for their compassionate, loving care of Alice during her two and a half years in Room 259 Pringle Place.
