Listed in Memorials
Age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 21st, 2024 at Scarborough and Rouge Hospital.
She was born in Trinidad on September 15th, 1937 to Cyril and Maude Sahadath.
Babsie was the cherished wife of the late Roy Mahabir.
Mother of Ronnie, Robin and Roger (Tracie).
Grandmother of Justin, Brooke, Ryan and Kyle.
Sister-in-law of Shirley, Lola and Wilma Sahadath.
Loving aunt of many.
She was the last standing of ten siblings of her generation in the Sahadath family.
Babsie loved shopping at Scarborough Town Centre especially at Sears and The Bay on Saturdays with her granddaughter and Dawne, who was like a sister to her.
She loved spoiling her grandchildren, always whipping up delicious meals and treats. There would even be competitions among the grandkids about whose photos made it on the refrigerator.
Babsie was devoted to her family and was the glue that held the Mahabir family together. She loved camping on weekends in Marmora during the summer and watching her favourite TV shows. She came to Canada in the late 60’s and her home was a welcoming place; her door always open to all family.
Her grandkids will always remember her advice and famous sayings – “friends will carry you but they won’t bring you back” and “those who don’t hear must feel.”
Babsie will be deeply missed but will live on in our hearts and treasured memories.
