BAIN, DAVID ALEXANDER David was a loving husband to Joan, his late wife of 55 years, brother to Yvonne, father to Laura (Colin), Sharon (Johnny), and Susanne (Mark), and beloved grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Born in Toronto to Jack and Molly Bain, with roots in Loring, David began teaching in a one-room school with five grades on the Muskoka river, eventually moving to Vancouver with his family in 1964 to teach in The University of British Columbia's education faculty. His lifelong love of teaching marked all his relationships, both professional and personal. An avid reader and writer, he shared his writing with others. Proudly Canadian, he enjoyed adventuring, especially on road trips throughout Canada. David valued his relationships with family, friends, pupils, neighbours, and even the wildlife who regularly visited him in his backyard. Loved by so many, he passed away peacefully at home in N. Vancouver surrounded by family. We will miss him and remember the words he treasured: "Look to this day, for it is life, the very life of life."
