It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don MacPhee following complications from cancer.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Chris and children Michael (Maryann) and Meghan (Charlie).
Cherished Grandad of his favourite gems, Grayson and Emma.
Don was born in Goderich, Ontario to Harold and Helen MacPhee, Brother to Yvonne Pentland (Ron predeceased), Grant (Joan), Jerry (Shirley) and Sister-in-law Betty MacPhee (Bruce predeceased); Brother-in-law to Carol Brady (Michael Brady predeceased), Kathy and Ted Brown and Jim and Catherine Brady. Don was a much-loved Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He is remembered by his grandchildren for his kindness and the generosity of both his time and skills. Recently, they were most impressed by his ability to drive a go-cart, fix bikes and his love of Disney.
Don loved cars from the beginning. Born into a car family, with his father being one of the first Volvo Dealers in Canada. Don attended the University of Western where he earned a business degree, and was also a licensed technician.
Don’s career path took him to Mazda Canada where he had a long and successful career, retiring as a Director of Parts and Service Operations. He loved his time at Mazda and in particular his trips to Irvine, California and Japan.
His favourite travel companion was his wife Chris and together they had many great adventures, recently a trip to Scotland and Ireland where Don went to trace his Scottish roots on the Isle of Islay. His other favourite spot was his home in Fort Myers, Florida where he put his best efforts into trying to master the game of golf and pickle ball.
Don was the ultimate kind soul and was always willing to help. He could find the value and good in everyone and everything, hence his inability to throw anything away. He leaves behind many, many items in his basement which nobody has any idea what to do with.
In lieu of flowers please donate in his memory to charities that are important to you.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
