FEBRUARY 10, 1941 – MAY 24, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family shares the passing of Grant Moffatt Stevens on May 24, 2024.
Beloved husband of Mary Stevens (Regan) for 61 years.
Proud and loving father to three boys, Brent (Marina), Scott (Tracey) and Glenn (Donna).
Predeceased by his parents Francis and Isabell Stevens and by his sister Joan Robbins.
He is survived by his loving sisters Ruth and Faith Stevens who provided love and affection to the very end. He was a loving and supportive Grandfather and will be greatly missed by Nikolas, Kristofer, Connor, Cameron, Kaitlin and Charlotte.
As a teenager, Dad met the love of his life while skating on Grenadier pond in Toronto. After graduating from Ryerson, he and Mary were married and moved to Ottawa so Dad could start work at Northern Telecom.
After a few years there, he went to teachers college and earned a teaching degree.
He then started teaching sociology and psychology at St. Lawrence College in Kingston where he stayed until he retired. He was a popular teacher and his office wall was covered in plaques including a teacher of the year award and tokens of appreciation from his students.
Dad greatly enjoyed the annual fishing trip with his buddies from St. Lawrence. Not many fish were caught but good times and great memories were formed by all who went.
In later years, Dad discovered the love of man’s best friend. A golden retriever named Bailey was his favourite with retrievers Mandy and Sandy not far behind.
Following Dad’s wishes there will be no service, however a private family interment will be held at Parklawn cemetery in Toronto. Here he will rest with many other family members.
Arrangements entrusted to the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W. Oshawa, Ontario.
As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Kingston Humane Society.
