In Loving Memory of Grace Noreen Hawtin (nee Williamson)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Mom passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Champlain Manor in Orillia.
Born in Beaverton, daughter of Charles & Lina (Flynt) Williamson. After completing high school, Mom moved to Toronto to attend nursing school at Toronto General Hospital, where she graduated as an RN. She returned to Beaverton when she married Dad in 1948. She was a long-time active member of St Andrews United Church and the UCW (55 year pin), the Beaverton Curling Club, the Lakeview Manor Auxiliary, and many other community organizations.
Best friend and loving wife of Art, who predeceased her in 2014. They spent 66 wonderful years together, and could often be found on their Carden ranches, tending the cattle and enjoying the peaceful countryside. Mom was also predeceased by her brother Eldon in 2011.
Mom was a supportive, encouraging and much loved mother to Shirley (John) Somerville, John (June), and Janet. Proud Grandma to Paul (Michelle) & Jeff (Julie) and David (Sonya) & Mark (Mindy); and Great Grandma to Chloe & Fletcher, Arianna, Amber & Jackson, and Annabelle
After Dad passed away, Mom moved to Orillia, making her home at Champlain Manor, where she actively participated in the many activities and events that they offered. We would like to thank the wonderful staff for their care and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to Mom’s visitation and funeral service on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the Mangan Funeral Home, Beaverton. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until the time of the funeral at 2:00, followed by a reception at Beacan Presbyterian Church, 413 Simcoe Street.
Mom will be missed but never forgotten. Mom & Dad were always there for us and were our biggest supporters. Thank you for your love, guidance, example, and devotion to our family. You will always be our guiding lights.
