Ian McIsaac, a dedicated advocate for working-class rights and a beloved family man, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday December 5, 2023 at the age of 74.
He is now reunited with his loving wife, Mary, whom he missed dearly since 2001, his brother Walter (2001) and his sister, Christine (1986).
Ian is survived by his sister, Janet Carruthers, his sister-in-law, Irene McIsaac and his four children: Tracy (Eric), Colin (Heather), Suzanne (Frank) and Mary (Peter).
His legacy lives on through his nine grandchildren: Cameron, Andrew, Iain, Thomas, Nicholas, Connor, Theo, Kate and Lily. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on November 17, 1949, to Elizabeth Scott and Walter McIsaac, Ian’s early passion for improving the lives of working-class people led him to Toronto, Canada in 1969.
Ian was a loving family man, married to Mary for 29 years, before her untimely death. He was a proud Father, a doting Grandfather, strong friend, and a loyal colleague. He adored his favourite football team, the great Glasgow Rangers FC, win or lose.
Ian will be lovingly remembered by his extended family, friends, and those that had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire those he touched.
Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, Oshawa on Friday December 8th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday December 9th at 11:00am.
If desired, memorial donations to the Lakeridge Health Foundation would be appreciated.
