Passed away on Sunday, December 18th, 2016 in her 97th year.Irene was born in Teignmouth, England and grew up in Oshawa, always remembering her English heritage. She will be missed by her devoted husband Jim.Irene leaves her two sons Robert Johnstone and his wife Jane of Port Dover and Ronald Johnstone of Oshawa and her two granddaughters Jennifer and Christine and great grandsons Malcolm and Ronald.She is also survived by her sister Gladys (Pat) Steele and her nieces Susan Sokay and her husband Ed, Janice Steele and her husband John Donko and Lee-ann Steele.As requested by Irene, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, Oshawa on Wednesday, January 4th, 2017. Visitation will begin at 1 pm followed at 2 pm by the memorial service.Donations in remembrance may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or the Humane Society of Durham Region.
