PINNEY, JANET (JAN) Jan Pinney passed away peacefully, of natural causes, in her home in Elora, Ontario, on June 30, 2024. Jan is the daughter of Pearl and Harry Pinney. She attended the University of Guelph, graduating with a BA in Fine Arts, and went on to teach within the Toronto District School Board. Jan had a successful career teaching in the high school system, retiring at the age of 55. In much of her life, Jan was a skilled artist herself, practicing in various mediums. In her cherished retirement, Jan enjoyed gardening and invited various animals to converse with her on her porch. Following a car accident, Jan was confined mostly to her home. She was lucky to have good friends who helped her in her daily life. Among them were Rob, Becky, and Ella Heal. She leaves behind many cherished friends, in particular Larry Thompson and Karen Durski, both of whom had known Jan for many years. As well as her sister, Rhonda Berman, whom she was grateful to find late in life. Giddy's Funeral Home in Fergus has attended to Jan's end-of-life wishes. Jan wished to be cremated only, with no celebration of life, and her ashes to be scattered at a special place shared with her dear friend, Becka (Becky).
