In her 89th year, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on January 27, 2024.

Joan was a loving and supportive mother to Wesley (Gina), Janice, Joanne Nichols (David), Jeff, Jon, Judy (Domenic).

Proud and loving Nana of Shain, Joseph, Jessica, Lyndsey and Meagan.

Great Nana to Kylie, Ashelle, Draedon, Isaac, Sebastian and Elijah.

Predeaced by her parents Wesley and Muriel Jewell and step-brothers Leslie and William.

Joan left her teaching career to raise six children, then at the age of 50 she went back to school to become an Outreach Worker for domestic violence. She had a fulfilling career at The Denise House in Oshawa. She retired at the age of 72 to take up full time gardening.

Arrangements with DeStefano Funeral home in Oshawa. There will be no service at this time and a celebration of life will take place this coming summer .
