It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David (Dave) Mehaffey on September 16, 2024, at the age of 89 in Oshawa, ON. He was born on May 2, 1935. Dave was a devoted family man and a cherished member of his community/neighborhood of almost 50 years, always ready to lend a hand or offer advice in order to help get the job done.
He retired from the Toronto Star Newspaper, where he not only contributed his skills but also formed lifelong friendships and shared countless fascinating stories. Dave was a man of many interests, including golfing, skating, playing pool, and in his younger years, snowmobiling and boating. He took great pleasure in staying active and was particularly meticulous about his lawn and yard.
Dave was preceded by his beloved wife Pearl, his mother Gertrude, his father William, and his brother Jack. He is survived by a loving and extensive family, including his brothers William (Bill) and George and his wife Lee; Sister-in-law Mabel MacKenzie (Peter); Children Brenda (Rick), Glenn, and Wayne; Grandson's Brandon, James (Cecilia) and their children Sofia and Ella; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Stouffville/Ringwood area.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Dave's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his friends and his home, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and generosity. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
