With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Dave Moffat, a cherished partner, father, grandfather, and labour activist, who peacefully died on July 30, 2024, at the age of 67.

Dave was surrounded by his loving family, who will forever honour his legacy.

Dave was born on November 7, 1956, in East York, ON.

As a labour activist he fought tirelessly for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the dignity of every worker. His colleagues respected him for his integrity, mentorship, and genuine care for everyone he represented. The only thing more important than his activism was his family. He was a proud father and found so much joy spending time with his grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his beloved partner, Sharon Moffat; his children, Andrea, Lisa, David and Sarah; his cherished grandchildren; siblings, Marylin and Richard; and loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Janet and David Moffat and sister Janice.

Dave's legacy of selflessness, work ethic, strength and advocacy will continue to inspire all who knew him. He lived a life dedicated to uplifting others and standing up for justice. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Dave you will be forever loved and remembered.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Monday August 5th, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road in Whitby, ON, from 11:00a.m to 2:00p.m with speeches at 11:15a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dave's memory to a charity of your choice.
