August 26, 1930 - September 17, 2017It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother Nina, on Sunday, September 17th, 2017, in her 88th year.She will be forever missed by daughters Marina (Roger Hunt) and Nadine (Bruce Murray).Cherished grandmother to Zack, Greg, Hillary, Julia and Adam.Predeceased by her husband Alfred and sister Rica Thorne, she will be missed by her brother Joe Gurowka (Lois), Kim, Jim, and dear friend Mary Ann Fox.Born in The Pas Manitoba and a graduate of University of Manitoba, teaching opportunities brought her to Ontario.Nina spent much of her life in Oshawa raising her family and being an active volunteer in the community. In her later years, she discovered a joy in quilting and formed deep and endearing friendships with her quilting friends. Nina had a full life filled with love and laughter and will be forever missed.Her family would like to thank Dr. Clarissa Burke and Dr. Andrew Burke and the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph for their caring and attention in the remaining months of her life.Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W., Oshawa (905-721-1234) on Thursday, September 21st from 12:30 p.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:30 p.m.Interment at Union Cemetery and reception after.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph.
