A dear child of God died on April 19, 2015 at age 83.Orma was a proud citizen of Whitby and a longtime member of Whitby Baptist Church.Loving mother to Cynthia Bird, devoted grandmother to Tomas (Tina) and David, and faithful great-grandmother. Sister to Audrey, Glen (Joan), and Nora (Fred).Predeceased by her parents Norval Gordon and Vivian Mary Lou, John Kenneth, beloved son Garth Andrew, brother-in-law Les Moore, and son-in-law Ken Bird.A retired Registered Nurse with a ‘Florence Nightingale heart and soul,’ Orma will be greatly remembered as a loving person who made a lasting impression on many lives. “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not easily provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).Visitation will be held at WHITBY BAPTIST CHURCH, 411 Gilbert St. E. (905-668-9711) on Friday, April 24 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm.Funeral service will be held at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby (905-655-3662) on Saturday, April 25 at 2 pm with interment at GROVESIDE CEMETERY and reception to follow.Flowers are graciously welcomed.Donations in Orma's memory can be made to The Scott Mission, Whitby Baptist Women, or St. Michael's Hospital Foundation to benefit Canada's top teaching hospital.
