It is with great sadness to say that Paul Painchaud passed peacefully at his home on July 4th. He was predeceased by his brothers Ray and Gerry, his son Gord and sister-in-law Judy. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rosemarie, son Ron (Cheryl), daughter Anita, grandchildren Erik, Troy (Kim), Kristin and Kelsey (Leo), great grandsons Jake, Zack and Noah and brothers Bob(Joyce) and Larry.
Born in Saskatchewan in 1937 the family moved to B.C. when he was 4 years old. He grew up in Coquitlam and spent most of his life there and moved to Duncan in 1994 after a few years in Whistler. He loved gardening and spending time in his yard and enjoyed time with his grandchildren teaching them about plants, walks in the forest, having them in his workshop. They have many memories of their time with him. Bon fires in the back yard was always a favorite with everyone.
Paul was a lumber inspector for a few years but worked as a carpenter most of his life, a trade he truly liked, using his skills to build a boat and his own homes. He also loved the outdoors, canoeing, fishing, scuba diving, horseback trips and many motorhome trips shared with his good friend of 80 years, Julien. Paul and Rosemarie also loved traveling abroad.
Paul had a quirky sense of humour that always managed to get a laugh out of everyone. We will all miss this.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He loved them so much and was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
