(September 27th, 1955 - October 16th, 2013)Diagnosed with brain cancer in January 2013, Tom died peacefully at home on October 16th, 2013.He was the treasured husband and partner of Lisa (Grant) for 22 years. Proud and loving father to his three children (with Darlene Leather) - Dawn (Adrian Haut), Shana (Mike Voituk), and Christine (Adam Solsky); happy grandfather to Cameron Voituk.Son of Mary and Jim Cameron. Born and raised in the Beaches, Toronto. Oldest of five siblings - Jim, Jeanie (Cowie), Lisa, and David.Independent and determined, Tom made his own way in the world from an early age. Leaving home at 17, Tom capitalized on his extensive youthful experience in Scouting and the Royal Regiment militia, joining the Canadian Armed Forces as a Military Police Officer. He served in New Brunswick, Ontario and Cyprus. Tom joined the Durham Regional Police Service seven years later, going on to an accomplished career of 30 years including several years as Team Leader of the Tactical Unit, a tour of duty in Bosnia with the UN International Police Task Force, and outstanding achievements with his officers as Inspector of the Intelligence Branch. A principled man and a natural leader, his character and work ethic inspired success in others.Tom thrived on challenge and adventure in all aspects of his life. He was happiest when he was a man on a mission, big or small.
