Our beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Traci Joanna Lopez (nee Hirst), passed away on May 26th, 2024 at the age of 58, after a long struggle with heart and kidney disease.
Traci-Jo as she was called by her siblings, was born on the island of Jamaica in 1965 where she lived until immigrating to Ontario, Canada with her dearly cherished parents, Arthur and Phyllis Hirst, in 1979.
Traci is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Darren, her two amazing children, Kelli-Anne and Jordan, (and her sweet dog Nyla who will miss her very much). She has also left behind her brothers and sisters, nieces & nephews, cousins, and family of Darren, who will all miss her simple love of fun and laughter, her unique witty Jamaican expressions, her unconditional love, and her great strength. She was a brave fighter till the end.
Traci always described Darren as her Rock. He truly was a wonderful husband to Traci. He loved her unselfishly and took pleasure in making her happy, cooking for her, and generally spoiling her. Her children, Kelli-Anne and Jordan, were her entire world and she lived for them. They were the light in her life, giving her strength during the rough times, and a life filled with laughter and joy. She was so
proud of her family and never missed a chance to tell them how much she loved and appreciated them -showering them, and their dog Nyla, with her hugs and kisses.
She had many friends she cherished. She had a way of accepting and caring for others with an open heart, open arms and a perpetual smile.
Some of the most memorable times she enjoyed with Darren, Kelli-Anne, and Jordan, were vacationing together in the RV with their dogs - exploring the East coast of Canada, down to the Florida Keys, at weekend campsites, and visits to family who lived far away. The RV was her favourite place to be.
She was an animal lover, and her great passion was advocating for abused and abandoned dogs, being a rescue mom herself. She tirelessly dedicated many hours and a lot of heart to this cause and felt great relief when she was able to make a difference for them.
We will all miss Traci, and each of us will hold cherished memories in our hearts. We treasure the happy moments of her rich life that we shared together. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at rest with no pain or suffering. She turned to her God, Jehovah, when she needed support, and had faith in the promise of a resurrection.
**In her memory, Traci would have been happy if you made a donation to a local animal shelter or dog rescue program in your area.**
