William (Bill) was born on March 16, 1942, in Toronto Canada, the son of Stanton (Pat) Shea and Grace (née Reinhardt) Shea. He died peacefully in his sleep at home on July 19, 2024. Bill leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Anna (née Kiss), his brother John (Laurie), daughters Christine (Armando), Katherine (Malique) and grandchildren Elizabeth and Nathan.
Bill grew up in the west end of Toronto and lived there his entire life, moving from High Park (Keele) to Islington during his childhood. He married Anna in August 1968 and together they bought their first house in Rexdale, moving to Mapledawn Road in 1974 where he and Anna made a home for their family, surrounded by neighbours and friends.
Bill spent the majority of his working career at Kodak Canada - one of the many members of his family to work there. He retired in 1997 and Anna followed in 2000.
Bill was a lifelong baseball fan. He was in the (freezing cold) crowd for the 1976 opening day game for the Toronto Blue Jays at Exhibition Stadium and he remained a loyal Blue Jays fan his entire life. In the summertime, Bill could be found listening to Jays games while he worked in the yard or while washing his car.
Bill will be remembered for his love of sports and his passion for cars, along with his sense of humor, his amazing intelligence and, of course, his sarcasm. Above all, he’ll be remembered for the deep love he had for Anna during their marriage, through to the end. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West on Friday, July 26th from 4pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s name to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, Toronto General Transplant Foundation or the Dorothy Ley Hospice Foundation.
