Evdokia “Dusia” Dashkevich of Oshawa, Ontario, passed away peacefully in her sleep into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on December 18, 1927, in Ukraine, she immigrated to Canada with her husband and daughter in 1989.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Peter (1999), Evdokia was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Maria Bushmich (Vladimir) and Lyudmila Monroe (Jakob). She was a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren. Evdokia was a long-time member of the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, now Grace Church, in Oshawa, and will be remembered for her unwavering faith and love for her family.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fosterbrooke Nursing Home in Newcastle for their compassionate care and support.

Visitation will be held at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres, 1200 Thornton Road, North, Oshawa, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The chapel service will take place at the same location on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM, followed by the burial at 1:00 PM.

Beverley Anne (nee Hebb) passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at Extendicare, Oshawa, in her 76th year.

Beverley was a loving mother to Craig Davies (Kelly) and grandmother to Austin and Adam Davies. She will be fondly remembered by her son Robert Martin (Lisa) and stepchildren Glen Davies (Valerie) and Lisa (Rex). Sadly missed by her 'good-looking, younger' brother John Hebb (Kim). Bev was a special aunt to Jessica Morris, Stephanie Hebb, Josh Hebb, and Tori Hebb.

She was a long-time and close friend to Bonnie McIntyre and Marilyn Knihniski. Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Anne Hebb and Craig's father, Richard Davies.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Keith Danielsen on Friday, November 8, 2024. Born in Birmingham, England, on November 13, 1945, to Louis and Rosanna, Keith was a loving father to Lars (Andrea) and a cherished grandfather to Ben and Spencer. He is predeceased by his brother, Albert.

Keith fondly recalled his childhood visits to a local sports store in England, a memory that inspired him to eventually own and operate his own. He realized this dream by founding Mount Kirby Skis & Boards, a store that has proudly served ski, snowboard, and outdoor enthusiasts in the Durham Region and the GTA for over 50 years.

After moving to Canada in 1967, Keith quickly became involved in local clubs and sports teams. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club for over 40 years. He was also active in soccer, skiing, and tennis clubs throughout his life.

Keith will be dearly missed by many friends in both England and Canada. "Up The Villa Keith!"

Nancy Van Duyn passed away peacefully with family by her side at Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 66. She was the cherished wife and best friend of Norm Van Duyn, and a devoted mother to her sons, Jason and Justin, and daughter-in-law, Jade. Nancy was a beloved Grandma to Nixon, Weston, Layne, Oaklin, and Laken, and is also survived by her sister, Tracy.

Nancy graduated from Durham College and began her career in office administration, working with various banks and later with Investors Group and Clintar, retiring in January 2021. She had a passion for the outdoors, especially in her garden, and she loved entertaining, often planning menus with care when invited to friends' cottages. She enjoyed Tuesday evenings golfing with the ladies at Wyndance and was known for discussing both the game and her menu ideas with Norm. Winter brought her joy in Thornbury, where she skied and honed her snow carving skills. Nancy’s meticulous organizational skills were evident in her vacation planning, and she found joy in attending her grandchildren’s school sporting events. Throughout her health challenges over the past three years, Nancy maintained a positive outlook on life.

A special thank you to Dr. Ahmed and staff at Uxbridge Health Centre, Dr. Conrad and Dr. Zibdawi at Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, and to Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Wooden Sticks Golf Club, 40 Elgin Park Dr., Uxbridge, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Scott had a remarkable sense of humor, wit, and a touch of sarcasm that brought joy to everyone around him. He loved people, animals, and nature, especially spending time with his family’s dogs. Scott was an avid reader and writer, keeping extensive notes on his thoughts and interests. Artistically talented, he excelled in college, where he was on the honor roll and mentored many fellow students.

One of Scott’s favorite pastimes was going to yard sales with his brother, Quinn, where they would find hidden treasures that always managed to sell. Scott also loved buying and selling items online, turning even ordinary items into valuable finds. He was known and loved by everyone who met him, and people often shared with his mother what a kind and thoughtful person he was.

We are all blessed to have had Scott in our lives. “May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phitsbert George Emmanuel Dawes, lovingly known as “Bertie,” on October 24, 2024, at the age of 72. Bertie passed away peacefully at his home in Ajax, Ontario, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Oracabessa, St. Mary, Jamaica, Bertie is survived by his devoted wife, Marcia, and his sons Adrian and Brian. He was a cherished grandfather to Eva, Aidan, Addison, Lauren, and Meghan. Bertie will also be fondly remembered by his brothers Carlton Walker and Jeffery Roberts, their families, and many extended family members and friends. Known for his “gift of the gab,” Bertie delighted in sharing stories and connecting with those around him.

After immigrating to Canada in 1970, Bert enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Federal Government, including 23 years with the Canada Revenue Agency and 12 years with Health Canada, retiring as a Labour Relations Advisor. A dedicated sportsman, he was active in the Commonwealth Sports Club, a talented cricketer, and a golf enthusiast in retirement. Bertie’s greatest joy, however, was playing dominoes with friends and family.

Bertie’s wit, humor, and big heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In his memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
