Rajko Vujanovic

Rajko Vujanovic

Listed in

Rajko (Ray) Vujanovic passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, at the home where he and his wife of 51 years raised their family.

Rajko was born on September 7th, 1946 to parents Zorka and Bosco in Lepenica, Bosnia (formerly Yugoslavia).

The youngest of 13 children, Rajko served in the Yugoslav army and worked in different parts of Europe before coming to Canada in 1971.

He laid roots alongside his brother Vaso’s young family in Oshawa, Ontario, where he built a life and home with his wife Zorica.

Rajko was a proud and principled man. He was a caring husband and a deeply devoted father and grandfather. Rajko had many interests, including soccer, fishing and politics and was truly a jack-of-all-trades. -- If you could break it, he could likely fix it with a rubber band and a toothpick, and often did. He had a huge personality and loved to laugh and tell a good story (or a terrible joke).

He was steadfast, determined, and hardworking, and even in times of personal struggle, he always put others first.

Rajko was loved for his gregarious nature, and because he was kind, giving and deeply compassionate. He opened his door to many, and always made a space at his table for anyone who wanted or needed to be there. Rajko loved people.

He loved his family most of all. He was a loving provider and a fierce protector, and his greatest pride and joy were his children Suzy and Natasa, and his granddaughter Emily.

Rajko is predeceased by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters, and will lovingly be remembered by his wife Zorica Vujanovic; daughters Suzana Vujanovic Greyton and Natasa Vujanovic; granddaughter Emily Collins; brother Vaso Vujanovic; sister-in-law Barbara Vujanovic; son in law Jason Faulkner, and his many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members, both here and abroad.

Pocivaj u miru bozijem I nek te cuvja andjeli

Rest in peace and let the angels look over you

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our neighbours, our family friends, Reverend Father Petro Tsenov from St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and Durham Region Emergency Response Services for their care and compassion.

A memorial service for Rajko will be held in the chapel of McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at 4:00 pm with visitation beginning at 3:00 pm.

Donations in memory of Rajko to Lyndhurst Centre, at UHN Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robbie who left us suddenly on May 9, 2024, at the young age of 47.

Born on February 3, 1977, to Robert Edward and Gloria Pitt, Robbie lived an incredible life.

He was not only his wife’s, An Marie, best friend, he was also a loving father to his daughter, Savannah, and his stepchildren, Andruw, Ethan, and Kayla.

He was cherished and loved by our fur babies, Scout and Rudy.

Robbie was very passionate about hockey.

He started playing, with the support of his parents, at a very young age and retired in 2017, as a goalie. He was looking into coaching to share his knowledge and love of the sport.

Robbie was a Star Wars fanatic, so much so that he wanted everyone around him to also enjoy the franchise. His wife and children will miss our Star Wars trivia during dinner.

Robbie had a very kind soul towards animals. He enjoyed being around our dogs and fish. He was very empathetic towards them and always felt a pull to help them when needed.

Though Robbie may not be with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rest In Peace, Robbie, and May the Force be with you.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm at THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE, (1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787). Visitation will take place on Thursday May 23, 2024, from 1 pm until time of service in the chapel at 2 pm.

Robert “Bob” William Houston

Robert “Bob” William Houston

Listed in

July 11, 1956 - May 8, 2024

With great sorrow we announce the passing of Robert William Houston, known to his friends and family as Bob (and to his grandkids as "GrandBob"), who went peacefully surrounded by loving family at Lakeridge Health Port Perry, on Wednesday the 8th of May 2024 at the age of 67, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Oshawa, Ontario on 11th July 1956 to Ralph Gordon and Ann Marie Houston, Bob grew up in Oshawa alongside his sisters Barb and Teresa.

In 1977, he met the love of his life, Karen Greentree, and they were married three years later. In 1981, the two moved to Pembroke, Ontario for work, where they welcomed their sons Brian and Craig into the world. In 1985, the young family moved back to Oshawa where Bob was employed at General Motors.

Following a personal injury, he retrained in computer programming and graduated from Durham College in 1998. Bob subsequently enjoyed a fulfilling IT career while employed in the Greater Toronto Area, first at Star Data Systems and later at CGI Group, until he retired in 2021.

Bob and Karen fulfilled their lifelong dream when they purchased a farm near Port Perry in 2012. Since then, they have worked together to transform their property into their own personal haven in the countryside. As lifelong animal lovers, many beloved pets enriched their lives over the years, including most recently their horses Neo, Bailey and Cooper, dogs Jade and Kitness, and cats Sterling and Magic.

In recent years, life was good, between peaceful nights on the farm, time spent with loving family, as many rounds of golf as Bob could fit in, and plenty of home projects and renovations to keep him busy.

Bob was extremely proud of his sons and the work they did. His older son Brian served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 2008-2022, and his younger son Craig has worked as a Registered Practical Nurse since 2008.

Sadly, like so many Toronto Maple Leafs fans, Bob was ultimately left wanting of another crack at the Cup. But as he would always say, "There's always next year..."

Although he could sometimes seem reserved, all of Bob's close friends and family knew what a caring, witty and wise soul he was, always ready with a joke or a helping hand. He will be forever missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives he made brighter.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his sons, Brian and Craig (Erin); his grandchildren Everett and Adelaide; his sisters Barbara (Tony) Czaplinski and Teresa Zamejc; his nephews Greg (Katie), Michael and Chris (Andrea) Czaplinski; nephews Brent (Lisa) and Trevor (Shannon) Greentree, and niece Jennifer (Brad) Greentree-Wornstaff; nephew Christopher (Rachel) Greentree and niece Kelsea (Anthony) Greentree.

He is also survived by his father-in-law Neilson Greentree.

Bob is predeceased by his parents Ralph Gordon and Ann Marie Houston; his mother-in-law Anna-Marie Greentree; and his brothers-in-law Brian Zamejc and Brent Greentree.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Lakeridge Health Port Perry for their care, professionalism and support during this difficult time.

As per Bob's wishes, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined by Bob's family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any who wish to do so, please make a donation to a charity or worthy cause of your choice.
