Born on August 7 1937 to Lesant and Allan Farnell in her beloved city of Bridgetown, Barbados.

She sadly passed away on May 1, 2024.

Virginia married Michael Lucien Allen on November 30 1974 shortly after moving to Canada in June 1966.

It was in Oshawa where she began to build a life and family together with her husband and her two children, Mike and Sean.

She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, sparkling sense of humour, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her husband, children (including Kim and Erika, her daughters in law), and grandchildren Ella, Marina, Sophie, Stella, and Jack.

Although her passing is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her, the memories that we share of her will last in our hearts forever. We love you.

July 25, 1927 - March 28, 2024

On March 28, 2024 our family lost a very special, caring, and loving Mom, Nana, Great Nana and Great-Great Nana.

Verna Elizabeth Pizzolato (nee Bruce) has left to be with the love of her life, Leo, to spend the rest of eternity together.

Verna was the fifth of six children and the second daughter of William and Lillian Bruce.

She was born on July 25 1927 and was raised with her brothers and sister in the family home on Archibald Street in Fort William, Thunder Bay Ontario.

The summer of 1945 became a special time for Verna as it was then when she met her forever mate Leo Pizzolato.

A five year courtship ended in their marriage on June 17, 1950. Together they raised five children, Allan, Bruce, Brenda, Karen and Norman. Mom was a dedicated mother to all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

It seemed it was her passion to be around the little ones. Dad’s work often took him out of town for weeks at a time but mom held the home together while she kept care of the five children. A task she managed quite well. Mom was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and crocheter.

A great multitasker, she was often called upon by friends to make dresses or clothes for special occasions. She was always making or knitting something for one of the grandkids.

Predeceased by her parents William and Lillian, loving husband Leo (2001), brothers William, Gordon, Allan and Archie and sister Jean. Verna will be sadly missed but always in our hearts by her children, Allan (Jane), Bruce (Ruth), Brenda Nicholson (Al), Karen Grey (Roy Cory), Norman (Michele), her Grandchildren Lisa, Ryan, Michael, Philip, Lynne, Carrie, Jennifer, Lindsey, Daniel, Jason, Kristy, Kevin, Kaitlin and Jay, as well as many Great and Great Great Grandchildren too many to mention.

The family will receive friends at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL ,110 Dundas Street East, Whitby (905-668-3410) on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 11 AM to 12 PM with Funeral Service to follow in the Chapel immediately beginning at 12pm.

Interment at GROVESIDE CEMETERY in Brooklin.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Nursing Staff and Dr. Vieira on the F Wing fourth floor of Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their care and compassion and helping to make mom comfortable in her last days.

Valerie Anne Wahl

Valerie Anne Wahl

Listed in

February 7, 1981- February 23, 2024

Valerie lost her valiant fight against cancer on Friday February 23rd.

She was a loving wife to Kevin Wahl for 19 years.

A proud hockey mom to her three boys, Logan, Lincoln, Leland, and her fur baby Ryder.

Born in Scarborough to Mike and Heather Braun. Loving sister to brother Petro Stasios (Catherine) and Michael Braun (Sherry). Fun loving Aunt to Nicholas, Mattie, Blake, Ryleigh, and Victor.

She will be dearly missed by her surviving in-laws Ed and Debbie Wahl, Jane Carstens, as well as the many Aunts and Uncles too numerous to list.

Valerie had a beautiful smile and the personality to match. Her kind nature was balanced out by a ferocious loyalty. Valerie had just begun her second career as a PSW working out of Hillsdale Terrace.

Her compassion and loving nature was a delight to the residents where she was a favorite of many. She was frightened of those tiny terrors called squirrels, and disliked cheese. Her passions were running, gardening, watching her boys playing hockey and Kevin cleaning the pool.

She will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a brilliant star that burnt out too soon.

Visitation will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 209 Cochrane Street, Whitby on Tuesday, February 27th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 28 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at the Church at 12:00 p.m. A Reception will follow at the church.
