Loved mother of Paul Chalifoux of Prince Albert, and Aaron Chalifoux and his wife Denise Redmond of Guelph. Loving grandmother of Aidan and his wife Cristina Cardelus, and Quinn Chalifoux. Dear sister of Catherine and her husband the late Edward Daigle of Prince Albert, and Fern and her husband Douglas Murray of Kingston. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews.

The Family of Helen Chalifoux will receive friends at the Wagg Funeral Home, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry, on Monday, January 8th from 10 – 11 a.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment in Prince Albert.

Sister of Lloyd Anderson (Val) and predeceased by Murray Anderson (Angie) and Corey Anderson (Bernice).

Heather will be missed by extended family and friends. Heather was operated on in Toronto for pancreatic cancer by Dr. Paul Grieg on June 6th, 2016.

A special thank you to Dr. Kirsten Smerdon and all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa-Cancer-Centre and Oak Ridges Hospice for their care and compassionate support.

Heather was a real estate agent for more than 20 years and loved to work with people and families as part of the home ownership journey.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558). A celebration of her life will take place in early January.

With sad hearts Hayden left us peacefully while surrounded by loved ones at his home in Bethany, Ontario on December 20 2023.

Hayden was the devoted soulmate and spouse to Janice McArthur, proud father to Brendan, Jordan, Melanie, and Todd. Loving Papa to Aven, Aslyn, and Kyrie.

Hayden was the only child of Joyce (nee Appleton) Carr and John Carr (predeceased).

Hayden was proud to be born in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He moved to Canada at the age of 17 to continue his educational journey at Humber College and Ryerson University. With great pride, Hayden became a Canadian citizen.

His professional career was in business management, with the past 2 decades at Royal Bank of Canada. Hayden had a passion for all sports, especially FIFA World Cup, music, and travel. With faith as his anchor, a positive mindset, he faced many complex health challenges with great resilience.

The fabric of Hayden’s character touched so many lives. Hayden leaves behind many close friends and family and is an inspiration to all. We now remember not only that he died but how he lived. Hayden’s life gave us memories too precious to forget. Visitation will be held on Thursday December 28, 2023 from 5-8pm at Oshawa Funeral Home (847 King Street West, Oshawa).

Visitation on Friday December 29, 2023 from 10-11am at Knox Presbyterian Church (147 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa), followed by Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Following reception, interment will take place at Lake View Cemetery (1672 Kirkfield Road, Kirkfield).

Harold James “Hal” Butler

After a legendary life, Harold James (“Hal”) Butler passed away peacefully at the age of 97 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Hal was born in Scarborough, Ontario, the son of Stephen and Susanna (Fawcett) Butler, and leaves behind his partner of 16 years Linda Ellen Furuya, his sons Matthew John (Stephanie Summers) and Peter Russell (Angela Bagnall).

Hal is predeceased by his daughter Mary Victoria (Jason Fiorotto), spouses Linda Anne Wilson and Patricia Lawson, brother Ross and sister Vera.

Hal was adored by his grandchildren Nathaniel, Benjamin, Kate, Tessa, Victoria, Molly and Wilson, and the extended Butler and Wilson clans.

Hal will always be a legend at Oshawa Golf and Curling Club where he was the Head Golf Professional for an incredible 40 years, starting in 1951 (the 13th hole is named Old But in his honour). Before Oshawa, he began his golf career as a caddy at Cedar Brae and Scarborough Golf Clubs.

Hal then moved on as Assistant Professional at Thornhill Golf Club.

Hal competed on the PGA Tour and other professional tours for several years alongside legends Arnold Palmer, Moe Norman, Al Balding, and many more ambassadors to the game.

Hal enjoyed winters in Sarasota, Florida, and especially his membership at Palm Aire Country Club.

Please join the family to share memories of Hal at his Celebration of Life on Friday, December 15, from 4pm to 7pm at Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, 160 Alexandra Street.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Gerald Winter on December 5 2023 at Winchester Glen Retirement Community at the age of 59.

He is preceded in death by his father Henry Winters and is survived by his mother Marion Winters.

Gerry is the proud father of Megan and Amber and the loving papa of Malakai.

He is cherished by his siblings Shirley, Sandy, Sheila, Lisa, Kathy, and George.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring and compassionate team of Winchester Glen, who treated Gerry with both kindness and dignity.

Predeceased by her parents The Reverend Gordon and Leona Parker and her in-laws John D (Jack) and Ann Sommerville. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Helen started a career in financing, retiring early to travel the world with Jim and to volunteer.

She started at the OGH gift shop, and then moved to Parkwood Estates for many years, eventually writing their new tour. They moved to Canterbury Commons in Port Perry where she headed up a successful women's league.

When she wasn’t on the golf course with Jim or friends, she was preparing to host lavish parties and she could set a table like no other!!

A Celebration Gathering will be held at the Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 1:00-3:00pm.

Heinz passed away peacefully at the Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital with his wife and family by his side on December 2, 2023.

He was a loving husband to Jutta for 62 years.

A loving father to sons Jeffrey (Martha) and Bryan (Biljana).

An adoring Opi to Lucas, Maddie, David, Markus, and Mila.

Heinz's career spanned many years at IBM and Celestica. However, his true passions were his family and adventure.

He sailed as a long-time member of the Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club in the summer and skied in the winter.

In between he and his beloved wife Jutta, travelled the world exploring all corners of the globe. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends.

A private family service will be held with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Helen Christina Gilker (Turner) born August 1, 1936 in New Richmond Quebec and passed away after a short illness on November 26, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in her 88th year.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years Hall John Gilker.

Survived by cherished daughter Heather. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by loving mother Ruth Turner and her aunt Mary Fletcher (Turner).

Helen moved to Whitby in 1956 and started work at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital where she worked as an administrative assistant for 37 years.

In 1961 she married Hall and after a number of years of hoping Heather was born.

Helen loved to travel down home to New Richmond every year and hardly missed a trip in 67 years.

Helen loved her independence and going downtown in her car to meet her friends for coffee.

She liked to garden and bake. Her favourites were gumdrop cake and shortbread cookies and she ate both every night for a bedtime snack.

A funeral service will be held at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 1pm with visitation one hour prior. Interment at GROVESIDE CEMETERY .

Reception to follow.
