Tragically, Kevin passed away on October 7th, 2023 as the result of a motorcycle accident in Australia.

Much loved husband of Kellie, adoring dad of Kendra (Austin) Maestre, Kristian Baker (Kimmie Kennedy) and Kameron Baker and cherished papa to Eden and Theo.

Beloved son of Marjorie White and the late Robert Baker. Kevin was loved by his beloved grandmother Eva Baker. He was the oldest brother of Kendall (Bea), Kelly, Kane, Vanessa (Billy) and Diane (Twain). Loved son in law of Eric & Linda Smith and brother in law to Suzanne Smith (Stephanie Slade) and Carol Poot (Dwayne).

He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.

Kevin was passionate about higher education and leadership and was an advocate for student success, program diversity and community partnerships. He was larger than life, a creative and innovative thinker who loved to share his ideas with others.

A kind, approachable leader, Kevin always made time for colleagues and students.

Kevin joined DC in 2011 as Dean of the School Interdisciplinary Studies & Employment Services and then became Principal and Executive Dean of the Whitby campus in 2015.

He returned to the Oshawa Campus as Executive Dean of the School of Business, IT & Management (BITM), now the Faculty of Business in 2018.

He could have been that biker that you saw crawling out from under a tarp beside his motorcycle, yes was that old schooled.

Or he could have been with a group of other riders that had stopped for a bite somewhere and was happy to chat with you. Whichever version of Kevin you saw or met, one thing was the same.

He was a big guy with a heart of gold that would do anything to help you out. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him!

Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Sunday October 22nd from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday October 23rd at 1 pm at HOPE FELLOWSHIP CHURCH, 1685 Bloor Street, Courtice.

The service will be available to view virtually, a link will be provided on the funeral home website.

Passed peacefully Tuesday October 17th at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Kent is survived by his wife Shirley (Chrysler) and son Kelly (Amanda), and daughter Nancy (Jim).

He is lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren, Drake, Tristan, Brandon (Rachel), Elise and Quinn.

Kent was also the great grandfather of Rory.

He was a loving brother to Janice, Brent (Odette) and Wade (Linda). Kent was cherished by his sisters-in-law Beatrice, Violet (Wayne), Barb, Phyllis and Diane (Geoff).

Kent worked for Chrysler for many years and had since retired.

He loved hockey and could often be found at a local Oshawa Generals game with friends.

He lived for his family and loved them all deeply. Kent will be fondly remembered by many friends, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Kent at a later date for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Keith Taylor on October 11, 2023 at the age of 92.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 13, 1931, he lived most of his life on the Prairies.

He attended school in Manor, SK, Bible school in McCord, SK and Winnipeg, MB, and college in Seattle, Washington.

He, with his wife Joan, served for 32 years as pastor of seven churches in the Free Methodist Church in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, followed by five years as maintenance manager at Aldersgate College in Moose Jaw, SK.

Retiring in 1996, he supervised the building of a new house in Weyburn, SK where he and his wife lived until their move to Courtice, ON in 2001.

His interests were many, including gardening, painting and carpentry. He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Joan of 68 years, daughter, Beth (Barry) Rawn of Courtice, ON, son, Cam of Abbotsford, BC, daughter, Marilou (Jay) Mowchenko of Saskatoon, SK, grandchildren—Shannon (Josh) Brigham, Ryan (Chantel) Rawn, Justin (Christina) Rawn, Caleb and Elena Taylor, Keisha and Josh Mowchenko, great-grandchildren—Norah and Taylor. He is also survived by a brother, Martin (Betty) and a sister, Joyce (Derrell) Rodine, a sister-in-law, Dolores Taylor, plus many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Don and Glenn, two sisters, Helen and Evelyn and his daughter-in-law, Vicky Taylor. He loved life, his church, his family and his many friends who enjoyed his wonderful sense of humour.

His main goal in life was to be an encourager, to finish well and to leave a legacy of faith – all of which he accomplished.

In 2021 he and his wife moved to Harmony Hill Retirement Community where he soon felt very much at home.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 10 at the Trulls Road Free Methodist Church in Courtice, ON with a visitation at 10am, followed by the service at 11.

Kwok Kwong Ng

Went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the age of 71.

After a 5 year battle with Multiple System Atrophy, he passed away at home.

He will be remembered dearly by his loving wife Mei Sim, loving father of Christina (Joseph), Alice (Martin) and Oliver (Shirley), and loving grandfather to Noah, Caleb, Sophie, Evan, Ryan, Everly and Atlas.

He will be missed.

Kwok Kwong was born on April 1st in Hong Kong. He moved to England where he married. He moved to Canada where he raised his family.

Kwok Kwong loved road trips and exploring the world with his family. Instilling in them a sense of wonder and adventure.

He will fondly be remembered by everyone who knew him as being strong and resilient.

He is now rejoicing pain-free in full-health and in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Ken at home surrounded by his family.

Ken was a loving husband to his wife, of 36 years, Tina, proud & devoted father to Lindsey and Kevin and cherished grandfather to Brooklynn.

Survived by his parents Walter & Irene Tarling.

Brother to Kathy Dawson (Mark) & Sue Nadeau (Ken). Brother-in-law to Sharon Frydendahl (Peter) & Sandra van den Bogerd (Michael) and his many nephews and nieces to whom he loved dearly.

Ken was a passionate family man and he loved working in his yard in his free time. Ken lived his life doing what he loved, playing and teaching golf.

Ken was a worldly man, having travelled all over professionally playing the game he loved, golf. Ken was instrumental in reviving the Canadian Tour in the early 1980’s and served as the President of the Canadian Tour for three years and was a member of the PGA of Canada Board of Directors.

Ken started his playing career in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Ken had a high level of personal achievement as a Tour Professional, Instructor and Club Professional.

Ken was a true athlete and thrived at any sport he picked up. Ken will be missed by all who knew him. He will be forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the amazing palliative care team, especially Dr. Spencer Chau and Ken’s nurse Brie, for all their care and compassion while he was home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge on Wednesday, October 11 at 1:00 pm, with visitation held an hour prior at 12 noon. Reception to follow immediately after the service.

Unexpectedly, but peacefully passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 87.

Beloved husband of Ruth for over 50 years. Loving father of Greg (Tracy) and grandfather of Ashley and Carter. Dear brother of Eunice Whittaker.

Ken was in the British Army for 2 years prior to immigrating to Canada.

He was a referee for soccer for many years. He also enjoyed watching all sports on tv, especially hockey.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa).

A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel.

Kateryna was a proud member of St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.

A longtime contributing member of the kitchen ladies league who prepared food in the hall at LVIV tirelessly for many years.

She enjoyed cooking for her family and for others.

Kateryna was a very hard working, strong, thoughtful person who enjoyed helping others.

She also enjoyed working in the garden on the family farm.

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved Kayla.

Kayla didn't pass away, she didn't lose her fight and she certainly didn't succumb to the disease.

Cancer didn't win, it was without a shadow of a doubt her will that won out.

During her courageous battle, she passed surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour her legacy.

She was the definition of fierce, outgoing, and kind - the list is endless.

Kayla always went out of her way to help others in need even in the end - a true testament to her heart and soul.

She had many passions -music, art, sports but first and foremost her family.

Her husband and children were her everything and she lived every day for them and her family.

Deeply loved by her husband David, daughter Sophia and son Dominic. Adored by her mother Tina Ricketts, her siblings Cassidy Tarr, Justin Tarr, and Adam Tarr, Grandparents Lois Ricketts (Deceased), Wayne and Arlene Ricketts.
