November 4, 1942 - March 19, 2020 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our family’s matriarch, Ilona Riggers (nee: Sladeczek).Ilona passed peacefully in her home with her family by her side on March 19, 2020 at the age of 77.Predeceased by her loving husband Gerd Riggers.Loving mother to Manfred and his wife Nancy Riggers, Yvonne Riggers, and Terry and his wife Sandra Riggers.Beloved Oma to Nathan Riggers and his partner Jen, Kira Riggers, Kendall Riggers and the light of her life, her only great-grandchild, Falon Riggers Glazier. Ilona is pre-deceased by her parents Paul and Anna Sladeczek, and many siblings. She is survived by her brother Paul and his wife Wendy Sladeczek and extended family.Ilona will be dearly missed by her many friends, especially her best friend Inge and her husband John Huber, her special friend Ivan Jeric, and her fur baby, Bella.Ilona was a long-standing, active member of Club Loreley in Oshawa, where she enjoyed socializing with her friends and dancing the night away. She loved her family and friends dearly. And she made the best soup in the world. At Ilona’s request, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place and due to the restrictions of Covid-19, the family will be organizing a Celebration of Life at a later date.The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Ilona’s cancer team, Dr. Rothenstein, Dr. Iqbal, and Nurse Julie, family physician Dr. Lottering, and home care nurse Valerie.A very special thanks to her best friend, Inge Huber who loving assisted the family in caring for Ilona during her illness. Ian grew up in Toronto, and St. Lambert, QC, and graduated from Chambly County High School.Every month, when the CCHS newsletter came out, there was an article that again, made him remember his good childhood friends.In his youth Ian was a talented athlete, and was frustrated by injuries that made him give up many sports, except golf. His only hole in one was made while playing with son Peter at Royal Ashburn.He was passionate about hockey, golf, football, and track and field. He recently learned to be a fan of baseball and basketball, to share good times with his grandsons, The Boyz. He was a passionate fan over the years of Peter's and Alison 's sports, and of course, those of his grandsons. "Sarge" proudly served in the RCMP, in New Brunswick, Ottawa, and Toronto, and then worked for CSIS in Toronto.Several years ago he attended his troop's 50th reunion in Regina, and loved reminiscing about "the old days". Cremation will take place. A Celebration Of Life will take place in the spring at Royal Ashburn Golf Course on Saturday April 25 from 2-4 pm. (995 Myrtle Rd W, Ashburn, ON). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan Hrazdira Sr on March 2, 2020 at age 73.Peacefully surrounded by his family, Ivan passed away after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Ivan Hrazdira was born on September 15, 1946 in Kolin, Czechoslovakia.In 1968 he immigrated to Canada with his family.Ivan attended George Brown College in Toronto and became a designer of industrial machinery, later founding his own company.A lifelong "tinkerer," there was apparently nothing that Ivan could not design or fix. Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Debby; four children, Ivan Jr and his wife Leigh of New York, Anna, Brandon and Tanya-Lee and her partner Zachary; five grandchildren, Katy Alex and Lily, Zoe and Zeke and Landon; sister Blanka Kovarik, niece Kristina Kovarik and partner Rob, and Ivan’s former wife Marie Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Liba Hrazdira.
