With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Patrick in the early hours of May 3, 2023.

Patrick was 79. He was born to Thelma and James Lee in Kingston, Jamaica, January 3, 1944.

In the 1970s, he emigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, then moved to Ajax, Ontario in the early 90s.

Patrick is predeceased by his brother Carleton and sister-in-law Cynthia, and sister Dorothy Williams. He will be greatly missed by brothers Lester (wife Catherine) and Richard (wife Lynn), brother-in-law Justin, his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and godchildren.

Patrick had a big heart with a thoughtful and generous nature. He was the quiet person in a crowd, but filled conversations with his wit and humor. He had a full and busy life, but always thought of others and never hesitated to volunteer his time at the Tsung Tsin Association of Ontario.

Patrick’s family extends their appreciation to Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital and Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital for the compassionate care he received.

Visitation and viewing will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home (28 Old Kingston Rd, Ajax), on Thursday, May 11th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, on Friday, May 12th at 11 a.m. Cremation.

Memorial donations may be made to Save the Children Canada, Humane Society of Durham Region, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our loving mother Petronella (Nellie) Jawny on April 28, 2023, just weeks shy of her 96th birthday.

Nellie was born May 13, 1927 in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands to Johannes and Adrianna Vanderzwet. Loving mother of Sophie (James) Lindsay and Mary (Ken) Noakes.

Proud grandmother to Holly (Dennis) Noakes, Alison Lindsay (Brian Davis), Natalie Ibbitson (Rocky Rehel) and Kevin (Nella) Noakes.

Great grandmother Oma to Logan, Addison, Porter, Lennon, Gracie Mae, Carter and Emma.

Predeceased by her son Johnny (1955) and her loving husband Harold Strutt (1993). Loving sister of Gerard Vanderzwet (deceased), Helen and John Vandermeer (both deceased), John and Anne Vanderzwet (both deceased), Wilma (deceased) and John Kryger, Cathy and Carl Slierings (both deceased), Nancy Mazzochi (Philip, deceased), Sophia (deceased) and John Hroncich and Frank and Lynda Vanderzwet.

Loved aunt of many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed many hobbies, sewing, knitting, euchre, bingo and puzzling. She also enjoyed great fun vacations to Florida with Harold and her sisters.

The casino was a must with her sister Helen at all hours anytime.

Visitation will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice (905-432-8484) on Wednesday, May 3rd, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, May 4th at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Beloved wife of the late Vince Prout.

Dear mother of Tim Prout (Janice) and Sally Falls (Gary).

Loving grandmother of Kim (Kelly), Nick (Angie), Tim (Ashley), Josh (Sheelah) and Tyler (Becky).

Cherished great-grandmother of Samantha, Tyler, Cameron, Kai, Jaxson, Georgie and Thea.

She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and the many people she touched over the years with her hours and hours of volunteer work and piano playing.

Many thanks to the amazing staff at Bowmanville Creek for the care and compassion shown to Pat while she resided there.

Paul passed peacefully, on Monday, April 24, 2023, at Lakeridge Health, Bowmanville Site.

He leaves behind a loving, caring family: wife of 61 years, Susan (O'Leary); son, James, B.C.; daughter, Janet, Ajax.

Also, his wonderful grands: Paul (Jacquelyn); Aaron (Caitlin) and Kelsey (Sam). And of course, his adoring great-grands: Leo, Kaleth, Kiley Rose and Lia.

He also leaves behind his sister, Maureen (the late Ewen); and brother, Hugh (Sheila); predeceased by parents, Len and Kay Mitchell.

Paul retired from Metro Ambulance after a 28-year career, then in 1994, opened his own Paralegal business until his health declined. Paul has been a member of the Knights of Columbus, first at Council 7008 and since 2004, Council 11098, in Pickering.

A Visitation will be held at the McEachnie Funeral Home (28 Old Kingston Rd., Ajax), on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church (1148 Finch Ave., Pickering), on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 12 p.m.

Paul was surrounded by his loving family as he was called home by his Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ on April 22, 2023.

Paul was born Nov 16, 1945 to Norman and Ada (Jackson).

Beloved husband and best friend to Beverly for 57 years. Deeply loved Dad to Dawna and Paul/Paulie (Tricia). Cherished Papa to Paul James/PJ, Jessie(Steve), Dallas and Zachary and great-papa to Jaeden and Abel.

Dear brother to Murray, Pearl and Ruth. Predeceased by brothers Larry & Brad and sister Carol. Loved brother-in-law to Gail Joyce (Joe) Jimmy and Jack.

Paul will be sorely missed by many nephews & nieces, step- granddaughter Alayna (Darren), extended family & friends including Kevin and Greg.

Paul's loves in life were 1st & foremost his family and his faith.

Bluegrass & gospel music were a passion to him, as was his flowing long hair (LOL). He played many stringed instruments. Papa enjoyed the freedom of the road in his big-rig and on his motorcycle. Those who knew Paul will fondly remember him as a true & kind gentleman with an unmatched sense of humour.

Celebration of Life will be planned for the summer and announced on social media/FB (lol).

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Philip Stewart James Ball passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 16th, in his 70th year, at Oak Ridges Hospice.

Beloved husband of Susan.

Loving father of Jennifer(Marty) and Ashley(Ian) and Poppa to Mia Rembecki.

Brother to Stephen, and predeceased by his parents, Helen and Allan Ball. Philip will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

His quiet but strong character allowed him to be a genuine hero to the lives he helped as a firefighter captain in Toronto.

Phil touched many hearts and those who knew him would absolutely agree - If we had more people like Phil around, the world would be a much better place. He will be greatly missed.

Thank you immensely to the nurses, volunteers and staff of Oak Ridges Hospice for making Phil's final days as comfortable and happy as they were.

Friends may join the family for a Celebration of Life for Phil at Morris Funeral Chapel(4 Division St., Bowmanville) on Thursday, April 27 from 1-4PM, with public sharing of memories at 2:30PM.

It was with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Smith on Friday, April 14th, 2023.

Paul was born in Wymondham, England before moving to Birmingham where he grew up and worked as an apprenticed auto mechanic.

In 1966, Paul moved to Ontario.

With a new country came a new job as a paramedic and a long, successful career with Toronto Emergency Services.

He also played an active role as a leader in both the Cubs, and Sea Cadet organizations over his son’s childhood years.

In his down time, Paul enjoyed watching sports, especially soccer, and listening to “his ladies” singing his favourite Jazz and Blues songs.

Paul will be sadly missed by his wife, Lynda and their two sons David (Kara) and Edward (Jennifer). Uncle Paul will also be remembered by the many members of his extended family including Dylan whom he loved dearly.

Paul’s family with to extend special thanks to the many health care professionals who assisted him with compassion and dignity while supporting his entire family with loving care.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Monday, April 24th from 12:30 p.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:30 p.m.
