We are saddened to announce Jerry’s passing on August 25.

Born in Oshawa, Ontario to Mary (Widish) and Peter Tymoshik.

He is survived by wife Ellen (Parker) son Jeremy (Jennifer) daughter Lisa (Rich) Balko and treasured granddaughters Emma and Isla.

Brother-in-law to Debbie and Dave Bracken.

Jerry joined the Oshawa Fire Department in 1967 and retired in 1998.

Jerry and Ellen got to enjoy their life long passion for travel.

They travelled through 38 countries including Canada the U. S. and Mexico.

They eventually settled in Victoria, British Columbia where the climate was friendlier to Jerry’s arthritis.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Legion on 471 Simcoe Street South in Oshawa on October 1st from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

Giuseppa was a woman of wisdom, strength, courage, kindness and faith.

Maria passed away peacefully with family present, in her 95th year on Wednesday September 6th, 2023 at her home at Wyndham Manor in Oakville.

Maria will be dearly missed by her loving children and their families: her oldest son Romano (Paul), his wife Candace Malec née Jones and their children: daughter Natasha Richard, her husband Jérémie and their children Xavier and Tristan, son Marcus Malec, son Richard Malec (predeceased), his children Joshua and Eva and his partner Angela Stuart and her children Alyssa and Aaliyah; Maria’s daughter Lynda McCallum, and her husband Robert and Maria’s youngest son Richard Malec, his wife Nancy née Scott and their children: Laura Malec and Daniel Malec.

Maria was raised in the Catholic faith by nuns in Vicenza Italy before moving to England to start her life and to meet her devoted husband Wladyslaw (Walter) of 35 years whom she has now joined again in paradise.

Walter and Maria later moved to Canada where they raised their three children and Maria found employment for 35 years as a seamstress specializing as an invisible mender at Dorothea Knitting Mills (Parkhurst).

Guy died suddenly on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Toronto.

He was born on May 28, 1947 in Windsor, Ontario to Norman Lafontaine and his war bride Julia Brands.

Until his 16th birthday Guy spent several weeks each year at Shriners Hospital in Montreal.

When he graduated from University of Waterloo he became a science teacher in Durham Region where he taught at Eastdale and Anderson Collegiates.

In 1987 he was appointed Computer Consultant/Facilitator for the Durham Board of Education where he introduced computers to students and teachers for the next twelve years. He also taught evening courses for York, Trent, Queen’s and Niagara Universities.

He became Vice-Principal at Pickering High School and retired in 2002 as Vice-Principal of Grove School.

In 1972 Guy married Mary Patricia Noonan and they had three children – Justin (Mary), Kathleen (Paul) and Andrew.

Mary Pat died in 1993.

In 1999 Guy married Roberta Wood and became stepfather to Sarah, Jacob (Marj) and Callum (Violet) Quigley. Guy was a proud Grandpa to his eleven grandchildren.

Guy will certainly be missed by his in-laws Pat (Caroline) and Mike (Sheila) Noonan and Alan, Carolyn and Diane Wood. He was predeceased by his sister Eloise.

Guy’s funeral will be on Tuesday, September 12. Visitation will be 11:00 – 12:30 at DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Dr. At 1:00 Mass will be held at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 130 Watford St., Brooklin, followed by burial in Whitby.

In lieu of flowers Guy would have appreciated donations to Shriners Hospital, West Park Healthcare Centre or any foodbank.

Devoted husband, father, friend, colleague, and mentor - someone who was truly larger than life.

Tom Kings passed away on August 26, 2023, at Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 88.

Predeceased by his parents, George and Elizabeth, and siblings James, Kenneth, Josephine and Bernard.

Survived by twin sister Sylvia. Loving husband of Wilma of 67 years; devoted father of Lizabeth (David), Angela (Marshall) and Thomas (Wilma). Proud grandfather of Bryan, Gregory, Michelle, Alexandra, Matthew, Mark, Jordan and Jessica. Great grandfather to Alexis, Jeremy, Emma, Zoe, Hazel and Hudson.

Tom was born in Toronto on October 28, 1934. In 1956, Tom married the love of his life, Wilma Watson, and eventually settled in Scarborough in the early 1960’s.

Tom was a salesman and manager where he always went above and beyond to help his loyal staff and customers. He always looked out for others and changed the lives of many. Tom was always generously willing to give and help anyone from all walks of life.

He was proud of his community and did whatever he could to make it a better place. In his personal time, Tom had an incredible love for cooking, classic cars and individual sports.

His laugh, sense of humour, and smile will be imprinted on everyone that knew him for a lifetime.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

It is with deep sadness that Guenther’s family announces his passing on Thursday August 24th, 2023 at the age of 93.

Predeceased by his wife, Silvia.

Dear mother to Peggy Dimock and her husband Brian, Kim Siddiqui and her husband Ghous, Frank and his wife Joanne, Eric and his wife Tina.

Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Vanessa, Lindsay, Sofia, Alison, Deanna, Hamid, Nicholas, Jason, Craig and Alexandra and 11 great-grandchildren.

Guenther will be greatly missed by his nephew, Norbert Strahl and niece Karin Geiselhart. Predeceased by his siblings Edith and Dieter.

Gary passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health on Tuesday August 15th, 2023, in his 83rd year.

Born in East York, Toronto.

Predeceased by his parents Harold and Kitty Riley.

Gary was orphaned at the age of 13, and was brought into a new, loving family by Rose and Bill Farrell.

Thereby gaining another brother Jim and sister Roseanne, and consequently many nieces and nephews. In 1958 Gary enlisted into the armed forces, The Canadian Guards.

From basic training in Petawawa to serving overseas in Cyprus and Germany, he enjoyed many European road trips and particularly loved Copenhagen.

Gary served until 1966 and continued in the Reserves for 10 years. He married the love of his life Kathy on February 12th, 1971 and legally adopted her daughter Lorelyn in September of that year.

Together they welcomed a second daughter Tracey on February 13th, 1973.

They resided in Bowmanville until they divorced in 1990. He was an amazing family man, clever, funny and handy. Family and the military meant everything to Gary. He loved muscle cars and wolves. He will be truly missed.

Our family extends a special thanks to the caring doctors and nurses who have looked after our dad in his final days.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME 847 King Street West, on Monday August 28th, 2023, from 12:30 pm until time of Service of Remembrance in the chapel at 1:30 pm. Reception to follow.

Loving Grandmother of 15 and proud great grandmother of 20.

She loved her Bingo, the Casino, baking, quilting, Word search puzzle books and puzzles in general. She lived for her children and was devoted to her family.

She will be lovingly remembered as very friendly, sociable and was very content.
