Passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Breast Cancer, on Wednesday September 5th, 2018, at the age of 57, with her loving husband Martin Cain at her side.Devoted mother of Reece Martin Themen.Step mother of Mathew Cain Williams and Alishia Leger.Daughter of Gerald C. Apps and Johanna Apps.Daughter in law of Leona Cain and the late David.Proud sister of Brenda Hellingman (John), Kim Senour (the late Marv), Mike Apps, and Theresa Apps – Romard.Will be lovingly remembered by her extended family Leslie Themen (Noor), Gilbert Themen, Reggy Koorndijk, and Chanelisa Koornidjk, many nieces and nephews and family in Netherlands, USA, and Canada.Ilse will be fondly remembered by her close friends and a multitude of band and music fans, along with the many that had the pleasure of knowing, watching and hearing her performing.Ilse was well known for her soulful voice, infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and generous Heart and will be missed by all that came in contact with her.Visitation will be held at the DESTEFANO FUNERAL HOME, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport) 905-440-3595 on Thursday, September 20th from 1:30 pm until time of The Funeral Service in the Chapel at 3:30 pm.

Born May 19, 1921 Today August 17, 2018, Irene McEwan has begun an exciting new life in heaven!Irene is predeceased by sisters Jean, May and Anne also her beloved husband of 61 years, James McEwan, who was for many years the Canadian President of the Full Gospel Businessmen.rene, along with her daughter Lauraine, was on the original Ontario Area Board of Women’s Aglow when it first came to Canada.Irene emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1952 with her husband and two children. She has lived a very full and successful life, always involved with church and para church activities.She graciously entertained in her home, speakers from around the world. At age 97, Irene was longing to go home, she is now safely with her Lord Jesus.To carry on the family legacy Irene leaves behind her son Kevin McEwan, wife Joanne and his children Rachael, Wesley and Michael also her daughter Lauraine Meyer, husband John and children Kevin, Corinna, Aynsley, Ewan and Amanda. Irene May Hooey
We sadly announce the passing of Irene Hooey, on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Riverview Manor in Peterborough.She was in her 99th year.Beloved wife of the late William John Hooey, dear mother of Keith (Rosie), and Eric (Marya).Grandmother to Maria (Colin), Tracy (Bill), Becky (Brian), Neil, and Graham. Great grandmother to Michael, Jason, and Lauren.Predeceased by her parents, Blanche and William Anderson, and her brother Gordon of Oshawa.Irene was born in Oshawa and lived all of her life, except for the last 3 years, in the Oshawa Whitby area.After graduation from OCVI in 1938, Irene worked at General Motors in the Parts Department where she met her future husband, Bill. They were married in 1939 and celebrated over 52 years of marriage together.After spending her early years raising two sons, Irene launched her second career as an excellent typist and all-round girl Friday for several Oshawa firms, culminating in her work as an assistant to chartered accountants.She and Bill enjoyed their summer vacations in the Haliburton area at various cottages, eventually buying one of their own which they enjoyed for several years thereafter. They even went to their cottage in the winter, travelling the last few miles by snowmobile.Irene was an active member of the Oshawa Lawn Bowling Club for many years. She and her bowling partner Phyllis Bates won the Oshawa and Ontario Provincial Ladies Pairs Bowling Championships in 1985.Irene also enjoyed painting landscapes and florals. She enjoyed travelling to various destinations in Europe, the USA and the Caribbean. She had a long life full of many pleasant memories with her family and her enduring circle of friends.A private family service will be held on Wednesday, July 25th, followed by interment at the MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY in Whitby.Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to convey their sincere appreciation to the staff at Riverview Manor for their attentive care to Irene in her final years, and particularly in her final days.
