Frederick George Bartley
(September 30, 1967 - September 27, 2020)We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Frederick George Bartley on September 27, 2020 at the age of 52 after a complication from a pre-existing illness.His memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 19 years Jana and their daughters Rachel (17) and Ashley (15), mother Judy Bartley (widowed from Fred Bartley Sr.), sister Kelly, brother in law John, and his large extended family of several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and niece.Fred is a proud member of the Serpent River First Nation, his ancestors were signatories to the Robinson Huron Treaty.Fred was a 20-year veteran of the Toronto Crown Attorneys office and during that time he was instrumental in providing insight and support to Indigenous initiatives, including the creation of the Gladue Court at two courthouses in Toronto. Fred was also involved in numerous education programs designed to address the unique challenges that face Indigenous peoples in the criminal justice system.In recognition of his dedication and commitment, he was gifted an Eagle feather, seen amongst many First Nations as the highest honour. Fred was equally committed to volunteering. He gave back to his community by coaching soccer and hockey and volunteering with the Out of the Cold program. Fred also mentored Indigenous students at local high schools and universities.In the rare spare time Fred had, he somehow still found time to cheer on the Leafs. Ever the optimist, Fred held out hope every year that they would bring home the Stanley Cup. Fred’s favourite place to relax was up at the cottage with his family where he enjoyed fishing, swimming, water sports with his kids and cruising around the lake in his boat “No Reservations”. He loved to play hockey and many of his hockey friends I’m sure would agree that Fred spent a lot of time in the penalty box!Fred’s joviality and good nature attracted people the moment he walked in the room, and no one could forget his infectious smile and sense of humour.In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Toronto Council Fire or Toronto Urban Native.Condolences may be offered at mountpleasantgroup.com.
Frank McNeil
April 15, 1939 - August 27, 2020Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a long illness.Loving husband of Marie (nee Dulhanty), for over 59 years.Adored father of Dawn Marie Farquarson (Jay). Cherished grandfather of Kaitlyn and Brandon.He was the son of Frank and Catherine McNeill, born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to Canada at age 12.He had a great passion for flying and aircraft, in fact, he became a Flying Officer for the Royal Canadian Air Force.Frank will be forever remembered for his great sense of humour and his affiliation with St. Paul's Anglican Church in Pickering, where he served as an active member for many years.Frank earned a BA from Acadia University and an MBA from McMaster University.He retired from the Royal Bank after many years of service. (February 5th, 1943 - August 21st, 2020)Passed away at his home in Oshawa on Friday, August 21st, 2020 at the age of 77. Devoted husband of Nancy Davies for over 55 years, most loved father of Cindy Miller and her husband Paul, Brenda van De Keere and her husband Steve, and Brad Davies and his wife Kasey.Cherished papa of Jestin, Erik, Owain, Kate, Rebecca, Claire, Samantha.Survived by his sister June Smith and her husband Doug.Frank will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him for his kindness, generosity and incredible sense of humour. Frank enjoyed a successful career in the printing business for nearly 60 years, channeling his passion into the cottage he began building in 1968, where he enjoyed many a sunrise and countless legendary bonfires, surrounded by generations of friends and family. A family celebration of life will be held at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby on Thursday, August 27th. Frances ‘Bunny’ Wright
(November 25, 1942 - August 8, 2020)A very talented lady. Frances (Bunny) Wright was born in Toronto on November 25th, 1942 and passed away suddenly and peacefully on August 8th, 2020 at the age of 77 in her lifelong home in Oshawa, Ontario after a long life full of love, family, travel and creativity. Daughter of Alf and Ada of Newmarket, Ontario, sister to Susan, Mother to Jody, Jeff and Stephen, Grandmother to Zachary, Jessica, Preston and Nigel, Great Grandmother to Brodie and Cooper. Survived by Fred, her best friend and love of her life.An amazing Mother, wife, and friend, she will be deeply missed. Bunny was the “glue” for many relationships, and organizations.A teacher, artist, actor, musician, crafter, decorated Girl Guide of more than 50 years, master Zentangle artist, cake decorator, and bright light whose spirit and enthusiasm inspired all she came into contact with. From making large dinners and cakes for every family occasion, to creating crafts for each table for event she was involved in, or writing custom songs for international events, Bunny always went above and beyond to create things that would imprint moments onto the hearts of all. A master cake maker and decorator, she spent her life bringing joy to others through her creative efforts.Bunny found joy and connection in many groups such as her online Zentagle drawing group, Durham Choir, a Djembe hand drumming group, and the Girl Guides Trefoil Guild.A member of St Andrews church for many years and more recently Northminster United, Bunny’s connection to her faith based community remained strong through the years.
