Frederick Smith
Born January 16, 1928 in England. Passed away April 16, 2020 at the age of 92 in L.T.C at Ballycliffe.Predeceased by his wife Frances of 72 years in 2018, brothers Ernie, Bill and his parents Maud and William.Fred and Frances emigrated to Canada in 1965 with daughters Julia(Robert) and Delia.He will be fondly remembered by his 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.He loved his garden which won Ajax in Bloom and was an Honourary Member of the Ajax Creative Arts,He loved life and a cold beer.He was diagnosed with Alzhiemers at the age of 86 but on April 15, 2020 we were informed he had Covid 19.We could not be with him at the end of his life which broke our hearts.We will miss you, thank you for everything.Due to current restrictions, there will be no funeral, just a private family interment. Frederick Maurice Snooks
It is with sad hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Frederick Maurice Snooks of Sunderland on April 9, 2020 in his 84th year. Fred leaves behind his loving and supporting wife Katherine of 62 years and his 6 children Patricia (Jim Nelson), Helen (Peter Gouweleeuw), Raymond (Moira Taylor), David (Emy Flindall), Darlene (Stephen Sproule) and Joseph.A proud Poppa of 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Fred will be missed by his extended family of nieces and nephews. Born and raised on a farm in Udora, Ontario.Fred started his own business as a plumber/electrician and also stayed working the farm in Udora with his parents Maurice and May after his marriage to Katherine.Fred was a community man and served on the Udora Hall board and the Bethesda-Scott Cemetery board. Fred will be missed by his family and friends. A private burial was held on Saturday, April 11th at the Bethesda-Scott Cemetery.A Celebration of his wonderful life will be held in the near future.In lieu of flowers, and if desired, memorial donations can be made to the Hospital for Sick Children, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.

Passed away peacefully but far too young at Orchard Villa Long Term Care in Pickering at the age of 72 on Friday, April 03, 2020.Proud father of Andrew, former spouse and dear friend of Dana.He is survived by brothers Angelo (Susan) and Lucio (Rose).Loving uncle of Jennifer, Paul, Jessica, Cassandra and Victoria.Great uncle of Myles, Cole and Theo.Franco is reunited with his loving parents Giustino and Rosa.His infectious smile and good humour will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.There will be a private family service followed by entombment.A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.We wish to thank the staff at Orchard Villa for their care and compassion.

(June 13, 1933 – March 30, 2020)Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, March 30, 2020 at Hillsdale Long Term Care at the age 86.She was born to the late Harold and Marguerite Powers on June 13th, 1933 in Prince Edward County.She was the adored sister of Madeline Dunlop (Dennis) of London, Ontario and the late Glen Powers.Loving mother of Rex (Jill) Faul, Randy Faul, and predeceased by her daughter Deborah Paashuis.Grandmother to Bradley (Casey), Gregory (Theresa), Amanda (Kyle) Gauthier, Amber (Chris) Robinson, Ashley Paashuis (Justin); Adam Paashuis; Steven Jurchsion (Janese), Raymond Jurchison (Sherill) and the late Scott Jurchison plus 9 great-grandchildren.Frances was a genuine and kind soul who loved to travel and spend time with her friends and family. September 23, 1943 Nottingham, England - March 18, 2020 Cannington, Canada. Fred passed away just one week after being taken to Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, diagnosed with cancer.The suddenness was a tremendous shock to family and friends. He was a musician (piano and organ) and a businessman travelling North America, Europe and Pacific Rim, a past president of MIAC, the Music Industry Association of Canada and also a member of the Masons. Besides music, his wonderful talent was cooking-hugely appreciated by family and friends. Not as much appreciated was his dry and wacky sense of humour and use of puns. Fred is survived by his wife Pat, step children, Karen, Brian, and Grant, his siblings Beryl and Brian and grandchildren, Ali, Katie, Emily and Liam and his best friend Alfie (the cat). Private arrangements. At this time a private gathering has been planned to celebrate his life.Memorial donations made to Westben Festival of the Arts (westben.ca/support/donation then select Bursary Donation in memory of Fred Heap) would be greatly appreciated.

50 Years Cabinet Maker - It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Franz, surrounded by family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday March 16, 2020. Beloved husband of Marianne (nee McAllister). Proud Papa to Sean (Jackie), Natasha (Adam Moore) and Amanda (Sian Ahmed). Adored Opa to Maddie & Mason. He is survived by his siblings Christine, Hans, Willie, Martin and Wilfried. He was predeceased by Cor, Marinus, Johanna and Inge. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Neil and Laurence and predeceased by Michael, Frank and Paul. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, in both Holland and Canada, his god daughter Shannon Lastoria and his many friends. Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville on Thursday March 19th from 6 – 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, for immediate family. Due to his love of animals, especially his cats, the family requests Memorial donations be made to Clarington Animal Services.

Fritz Harry Toenjes
1927-2020 Passed away on February 12, 2020, at the age of 92.A man of precision and unwavering work ethic, Harry mastered the tool and die trade in Germany before immigrating to Canada in 1956.He met his wife-to-be, Pauline, a schoolteacher, at a local dance in Oshawa.Together they raised three children.Harry retired from General Motors after twenty plus years as a skilled tradesman.He pursued hobbies such as travel, golfing, woodworking, and enjoyed singing in a choir.Harrywas also a devoted practitioner and teacher of Tai Chi, an art form he practiced daily.An active member of St. Mark's United Church and the Whitby Seniors Centre, he had many close friends that he saw regularly for coffee.Harry was predeceased by his wife Pauline (1996).He will be missed dearly by his children, Steven (Feroza), Jane (Mark) and Carol (Kent); his grandchildren, Adam, Sameera, Andrew and Eric; and his faithful feline companion, Buddy.A memorial service is planned for April 26, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE.Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Canada.

Fondly remembered by her dear friend, Randy. She was proud of her family and cherished them with all her heart.She was honoured to be a Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Bowmanville and served as WMS treasurer for many years. September 10, 1932 – February 16, 2020(G.M. retiree 39 years) Passed away on Sunday, February 16th, 2020 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa with his family by his side. Predeceased by his loving wife Mary of 40+ years. Loving father to Shawn McGrath (Shelley) and Karen Varty. Devoted grandfather to Amy McGrath (Calvin) and Erin McGrath, Brittany Acorn (Al) and Shea Varty (Jenna). Cherished Great Grandfather to Jack Acorn. Predeceased by his sister Helen Hawkins, brother Eugene McGrath and brother-in-law Lymann Flynn. Dearly remembered by Cecile Flynn. Thank you to Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their care and compassion. Frank was a longtime volunteer for Glen Stewart Park and St. Vincent’s Kitchen.
