Mona passed away on November 8, 2023 at the age of 92.

Her children Christine, Isobel, Daniel and grand daughter, Denise were with her. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she fled to Mainland China with her family at the age of 10 during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong.

The journey took days by foot and she spent much of her early youth in Laolong Town, a settlement in north western Guangdong Province.

She later returned to Hong Kong to complete her secondary education and to pursue her dream job as a nurse at the Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital. Despite her affinity and talent for nursing, she put her career aside and got married soon after – becoming a dedicated full-time housewife, mother and eventually grandmother.

However, she retained her former skills and knowledge as a nurse and offered exceptional care to neighbours, friends and her aging parents.

Mona was a good Christian and followed the values and principles as taught by her late parents.

She was highly loved and respected by the people around her and she made many lifelong friends.

Although Hong Kong will forever be her home, she and her husband Paul made the decision to move to Canada in 1991 to support a better life for their children. “Family first” had always been her motto and it’s evident that her family echo the same value.

In life and in death, she will always be fondly remembered and missed by all who have been touched by her generosity, kindness, beauty and grace.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 17 in Bowmanville.

This will be a private family service to celebrate Mona’s life and the many memories made along the way.
