Passed away peacefully at the age of 89, surrounded by her family on October 20, 2023 at Rouge Valley Extendicare in Scarborough.

Margaret joins her beloved husband Horace, who passed away in 2017.

Margaret leaves behind her devoted daughter Matilda, and her son-in-law, David Rozario, along with her granddaughter Mandy.

Margaret will be very missed by her sister Teresa, and her other cherished family members including; Hazel, Sandra, Cornel, Dawn, Shaun, Darsha, Baby Mila, Greg, Kandy, Ryan, Tyler, Will, Natasha, and Emily.

A sincere thank you to the devoted staff at Rouge Valley Extendicare, Clark House, who cared for and watched over Margaret for six years.

Margaret came to Canada in 1966 from India, accompanied by her husband Horace, sister Teresa, and daughter Matilda. Margaret was a nurse and would start working almost as soon as she arrived in Canada, first at the NICU in Women's College Hospital and then the NICU at Toronto East General Hospital (now Michael Garron Hospital).

Margaret cared for countless infants before her deteriorating eyesight forced her to retire in 1995.

In 1996 Margaret and Horace left East York, where they had lived for 30 years, and moved to Brechin, Ontario. Having dreamed of having a cottage, they established themselves in Brechin on the Talbot River.

Margaret returned to Toronto in 2016 and lived with her daughter until her progressing immobility and dementia forced her to move to Rouge Valley Extendicare in 2018. Margaret charmed the staff and residents at RVE and though she was a woman of few words (with progressive aphasia), she was always among friends.

Margaret was a special woman, generous and kind until the very end. She is deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church, 4179 Lawrence Ave. East, Scarborough at 11:00 am.

AUGUST 23, 1989 – OCTOBER 9, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Ferdinand, who was taken from us too soon on October 9, 2023.

Mike’s absence leaves an aching void in our hearts, but his spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold dear.

Mike was born on August 23, 1989, a birthdate he shared with his beloved wife, and partner, Mara, of 15 years.

A man of unyielding kindness, Mike’s generous and infectious spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. Above all, Mike was a family man. He crafted a life with those he loved through shared dreams, mutual respect, and an unwavering support that stood as a testament to his character.

Mike found joy and solace in the companionship of his loyal dog Stella. They were peas in a pod, two of the most stubborn spirits you would ever meet, but with endless playtime, adventures and snuggles.

She will always be his Stella Boo. He connected profoundly with all living beings, illuminating the lives of others with his charismatic smile and contagious laugh.

His passion for cars was not just a hobby, but a true love and a testament to his appreciation for the journey, for freedom, and the thrill of life.

He leaves behind his heartbroken wife, Mara, grieving father Miguel (Ildiko), mother Lynda, brothers Sergio, Jamil, sister Isabella, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a community of friends and coworkers who were honored to know him in life. Each moment shared, every memory crafted, stands as a beacon of his enduring presence among us.

Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Monday October 16, 2023 from 4 - 8 p.m. A service to honour and remember Mike will be held on Tuesday October 17th, in the chapel.
