In his 85th year, Henry Lloyd "Harry" Southern, a longtime resident of Sunderland, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, October 30, 2020. Born January 7, 1936, Harry was the beloved husband of the late Norma (née Skinner.)Dear father of the late Richard Southern of Sunderland; Lorene (Robert) Marquis of Sunderland; Kathryn Stemp of Uxbridge; Douglas Southern of Oshawa; and Timothy (Kellie) Southern of Sunderland. Stepfather to Richard (Marjorie) Madge of Calgary and the late Wilfred (Anne) Madge of Calgary.Dearly loved Grandpa/Papa of Kristina, Kelly, Jay, Meghan, Corey, Nicole, Amanda and Jessica, as well as Mark and David Madge. Harry had 20 great-grandchildren.Dear brother of Mary and her husband Glen Currie of Burlington, and Emery of Cannington. Brother-in-law of Hildred Southern of Greenbank.Predeceased by his parents Richard and Olive Southern, sister Jean Worville and twin brother Wesley Southern. As owner/operator of Southern Construction, Harry was responsible for the building of many residential homes and commercial buildings in the region.Private interment in Cannington will occur later this month. A gathering to celebrate Harry’s life will be held after COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors, surgeons, nurses and admin staff at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Especially the ICU and Palliative Care Unit who helped guide us through Dad’s final five weeks. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Kohut at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital in the early hours of October 29, 2020 at the age of 85. Hank was a loving husband to the late Freda Kohut (nee Miller) for 59 wonderful years. A loving father to his children Debbie and Jeff (Tacey), and a devoted and caring Papa to his grandchildren. Henry is survived by his brothers William (Patricia) and Nick (Elaine). Henry was born in Scarborough to Jacob and Anna Kohut. Henry proudly worked for the Scarborough Roads Department for 20 years. In 1967, Henry and Freda moved the family to Uxbridge to where they farmed and raised livestock until his health forced him to “retire”. In retirement Henry worked for a local tree farm operating equipment. Henry thoroughly enjoyed his community. Annual corn roasts were a summer highlight for years on Ball Road. Henry was an avid five-pin bowler and proud league member in Uxbridge. Henry was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170. Henry enjoyed the comradery and participating in the annual Poppy Campaign. The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff at Douglas Crossing and the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital for their care and compassion in his final years. Cremation has taken place and, in keeping with Henry’s wishes, there will be no service. In memory of Henry please consider a donation to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

(July 13, 1935 – October 8, 2020)Ken Nicholls grew up on farms in both Goodwood and Leaskdale, Ontario. He was the eldest of 7 children to the late Henry Walter and Marjorie (nee Webb) Nicholls. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Grace (nee Acton) and children Janice, John and wife Susan and granddaughter Stephanie (Jeff). His surviving siblings are Arlene Elliott, Harry Nicholls (Mila), Edward Nicholls, Barbara Cowan and Sidney Nicholls (Barbara) as well as sister-in-law’s Jeanette Acton and Doreen Acton. There are also many nieces and nephews who grew up swimming in the pool, attending family get togethers with lots of laughter and memories that can never be replaced.He passed away peacefully at Markham/Stouffville Hospital from complications from a Stroke with family by his side. (February 9, 1939 – September 26, 2020)Hugh Young passed away suddenly in his 81st year at home.He left behind his wife Lilliane Young née Rochon. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in November. He also left behind his children Janette, Ken, Cathy and Derek, daughter-in-law Claudia, and his grandchildren Adam, Jenna, Sarah, Shannon, Kyle, Ethan, Owen and Evan.He is also survived by his sisters Roberta and Janet, and many nieces and nephews.Hugh retired from Ontario Motor Sales as a Grand Master Technician after 46 years; and lived with his wife in the house they built on Sturgeon Lake – the ‘cottage’. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, always helping his children, and friends with interesting projects.He was at his happiest working outside on the lakefront and in his workshop – one of his favourite sayings was ‘Just try to keep up’.In the summer, he could always be found down at the shore sitting in his lawn chair looking out over the water – especially at 5 o-clock dock time. He was loved and will be so missed.A special thank you to sister-in-law Diane and brother-in-law Walter, and our neighbours Gord & Shirley, John, and Grant.According to his wishes Hugh has been cremated. He grew up at Red Wing Orchards, Whitby.Survived by his beloved wife Jean for 68 years. Dear father to James (Christine) of Oshawa and Geoffrey (Nancy) of Port Perry.Cherished grandfather to Kelvin (fiancée Rachel), Clayton, Bryce and Devon.Harold worked as a welder for several years with car carrier in Oshawa and farm equipment company in Ajax.Harold enjoyed his retirement at the family cottage in Muskoka and winters in Texas and Florida.He had fond memories of his travels down to Acapulco, Mexico and twice to Alaska.
