On February 20th 2023, at the age of 67.

Doug Wilkins passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family with his loving wife of 40 years Denise and daughters by his side.

Doug was many things to many people. A brother, uncle, husband, father, and papa.

To some Doug was a great friend or golf partner. Others would challenge Doug to a fierce round of horseshoes or share a toast (whiskey).

Doug was often proudly seen in his Chevy Avalanche and enjoyed his time away from General Motors travelling with Denise. Doug cherished his time with his family and friends and he will leave an enormous hole that will only be filled by our fond memories of him.

In keeping with Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Douglas James Vickery Sr.

August 12, 1957 - February 16, 2023

Douglas James Vickery Sr. made his last wildly inappropriate comment on February 16, 2023.

At the age of 65, Doug’s death comes as a surprise to his friends, family, and local ambulance drivers, all of whom were beginning to question his immortality.

Doug will be fondly remembered for his outrageous sense of humour, distinctive laugh, and the surgical scars which he would happily show you whether you asked to see them or not.

Doug leaves behind his daughters Laura Ruta and Skyler Vickery, but they take comfort knowing he has been reunited with his son Douglas Vickery Jr.

Doug Sr. was a loving grandfather to Lucy and Marleigh and beloved brother to Jayne, John, and Dale. He will be fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. There is a hole in the heart of Burns Street from friends and neighbours who will miss his drop in visits and shouting.

A visitation will take place at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 6pm-9pm. The funeral will follow on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11am.

Those wishing to pay a quiet tribute to Doug are encouraged to kick back in a favourite chair, crack open a cold beer and listen to The Doors, Crash Test Dummies, or Tom Waits.

“This is the end, beautiful friend, this is the end.”

The Doors.
