Rita moved to Toronto in her early 20’s where she began her career with Bell Canada.She is predeceased by her husband and partner in adventure, Vern (2014).Loving Mom to Greg (Cathy). Dear grandmother to Heather and Alex and great-grandmother to Preston and Madelyn Helmle.Survived by her brother Harry Hancock (Gayle), sister-in-law Lynda Fallows (John – 2012), niece Marti Hancock and nephews Scott Hancock and Mike Fallows (Debbie).Rita will also be greatly missed by her extended great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her nephew, Kevin Fallows (1998). Special friend to Jane Vanderbilt and Pam Johnson and family.Rita was a kind, loving soul that extended her time, love and home to friends and family alike. She held volunteer positions with many organizations: The Sons of Scotland, Muskoka Bell Pioneers, Baysville Friends of the Library, Ril Lake Cottagers Association, and Baysville Autumn Leaves. We would like to thank the dedicated Team at Winbourne Park for their attentive and kind support of Rita and our family. Rita struggled with Alzheimer’s for the last few years.If you wish to make a donation in honour or memory of Rita, please consider the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region. They were a tremendous wealth of knowledge and support as we navigated the stages of the disease.A celebration of life will be held when we are able to gather, chat and eat sweets aplenty. Dear sister to Florence Jollow. Helen was an extraordinary person who lived an ordinary life. Her highest priority was her family and her strongest belief was in the importance of love. Above all else her favourite thing was to spend time with her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Time spent with Grandma was always fun! She will be dearly missed but for her she is now able to sing: “Blue skies, nothing but blue skies do I see. Blue days all of them gone, nothing but blue skies from now on.”Due to current limitations, there will be no visitation or funeral service held at this time. She had many other jobs over the years in restaurants, Sears and Kmart.Helen worked as a cleaner for the DDSB and as a PSW for Paramed. Helen made many of her lifelong friends at her various jobs.Friends and family fondly remember the fun we had camping and Helen will surely be missed.Her "entertainment" when camping is legendary and these memories will be shared around many more camp fires.Helen and Ron retired in Traemore on the Bonnechere River. Helen had a beautiful garden with many flower beds, vegetables and planters. Family and friends enjoyed visiting them in this beautiful setting.Helen especially loved her grandchildren's visits. She always had batches of their favourite cookies ready and made waffles for their breakfast.Helen and Ron enjoyed many happy years there before moving back to Oshawa.Helen's love of flowers showed in her garden in their little yard in Oshawa. February 25th, 1939 - Saturday, April 4th, 2020It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Heather Margaret McGregor Robb (nee Snowdon) on Saturday April 4th, 2020.An amazing wife, mother, nanny and friend.Mom received the diagnosis of cancer on February 25th, her 81st birthday.As with everything in her life, mom faced the inevitable with grace, positivity, unbelievable courage and acceptance for what she could not change.She spent her last five weeks exactly as she wanted, at home, reminiscing with family, talking with friends and listening to music. She died, as she wanted, peacefully, at home with her kids by her side.Many Markham kids will remember "Mrs. Robb", the lunch room supervisor at Franklin Street Public School for over 20 years, but mom will also be remembered for the 30 years she spent volunteering at Markham Stouffville hospital.She started giving tours of the hospital before the doors even opened to the public in 1990 and continued on volunteering even after moving to Brooklin, only retiring in 2018 just before her 80th birthday. Mom is predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Warren.She leaves behind her four children, Doug (Lori), Kathy (Keith), Diane (Paul), Sue (Mike), son-in-law, Doug Harrison, her 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Sarah, Chloe, Chris, Mac, Lucy, Molly, Heidi, Jack, Abby, Danny and her great-granddaughter, Sutton Rose, all wondering, who is going to knit our slippers now? Harold was a proud retiree of the General Motors Van Plant in Scarborough with over 30 years of service.Harold was known for his great sense of humour and his passion for fishing and hunting. January 20th, 1925 - March 25th, 2020It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Hillsdale Estates.Heinz joined his loving wife of 70 years, Anneliese, peacefully and with family. Born January 20, 1925 in Germersheim, Germany, he became an electrician and worked for the town.He married Anna in 1949 and 2 children soon followed, Bernd and Brigitte.Heinz worked as an electrician during the day and a movie projectionist by night.He and his friend emigrated to Canada to make better lives for their young families.In 1956, they settled in Oshawa.The wives and children followed by ship a year later.Heinz found work as an electrician at General Motors.He retired after 30 years in 1990. They bought a house on Denise Dr. and raised 2 more daughters, Connie and Monica.They built a close group of friends that became family. At gatherings, Heinz always provided the music with his accordion and singing while mom danced and sang. Both loved to sing and had belonged to choirs when young. They were members of Club Loreley for 50 years.Heinz was one of the founding members of the Loreley Sanger and a director. With the choir came another group of friends. And a very long and active social life! There were many choir picnics at View Lake or various cottages.Or celebrations at homes. These were always accompanied by lots of food, laughter and of course song! Oh and coffee and cake! Heinz had a sweet tooth and loved a good cup of coffee!!Thank you to all his friends for their support and treats over the years; especially Maria and Willie and Julie and Hans. Heinz was proud of his heritage and of his family. He was a perfectionist and handy. He planned and built many things. He was a man of strong convictions and not always easy to deal with!! But he was fair and always there when needed. Heinz lived by his watch and schedule. It drove Mom nuts!! He liked to watch Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil, and they both loved soccer.He was a proud Opa. He attended many hockey and soccer games! The apple of his eye was his great-grandson Kaiden. Heinz will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his children; Monica Ottinger (Terry Schriver), Connie Pugliese (Bill Kendrick), Brigitte Dewar of Barrie, ON, and Bernhard Ottinger (Hildegard).Loving grandfather of Angelo Pugliese, Anthony Pugliese (Candice Blain), Aryn Dewar of San Francisco, USA, Andrea (Brad Lawlor) and their son Kaiden of Barrie, ON. Heather was the loving mother of Keith, dearest sister to Linda Newman and her husband Frank of Breslau, and to Graham Perry and his wife Janette of Bowmanville, a special aunt to Lindsay, David, Matthew, Laura, Eric and Alison, and great aunt to Ari, Sadie, Audrey, Carter and Bridget, while also being a devoted cat parent to Gwen. She will be deeply missed by her “adopted” family in Oshawa. Living in Oshawa for most of her life, she served as an enthusiastic candy striper at Oshawa General Hospital in her teens and then worked at various branches of Canada Trust in Oshawa and later at Pickering Centre for almost 30 years. Her care and concern for others came through every day in her customer service role.
