Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday March 15, 2020.Henry is survived by his daughter Shirley & her husband Rob Gearns, son Stephen & his wife Cyndi, son Christopher & his wife Krista and grandchildren Leeanne, Joseph, Cheryl, Mark, Alisha, Arianna, Nathaniel and Jonathan. One of 11 children, Henry is predeceased by his siblings Andy, Frances, John, Keith and Martin, and survived by Frank, Bill, Janne, Nancy and Theresa along with spouses and many nieces & nephews.Due to the current health risks, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. May 27, 1931 – March 3, 2020Peacefully on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020 at Hillsdale Estates at the age of 88. Loving wife of Roy for 68 years. Beloved mother of Pauline (Kevin) Wert and Colin (Barbara) McBride. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Kaitlyn, Mark and Justin Wert, and Matthew, Christopher, Amanda and Rebecca McBride. Great grandmother of Carson, Makenna, Charlotte, Grayson and Brooklyn. May 16, 1928 - February 9, 2020- It is with profound sadness that the family of Howard Toaze announce his passing on February 9, 2020.The son of Clarence and Anne Toaze, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Kerr and by loving sisters Eira, Eileen and Kathryn, survived by sister Grace, nieces and nephews.Loving father of Deborah, Warren (Chris) and Michelle (Michael).Loving Grandfather of Ursula and Anna.Howard was the great, great grandson of Richard Nelson and Mary Toaze who arrived and settled in Stouffville, Ontario in June 1837.A 40 year employee of General Motors and graduate of G.M.I., Flint Michigan and a member of Phi Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.Active in many activities over the years, his first loves were golf and sailing. Howard was a life member of Pebblestone Golf Course.He considered Pebblestone staff as family and the course home. He treasured his life membership more than any other award or recognition he received during school, employment and retirement years. There were many magical moments.Howard spent his last years at Taunton Mills in Whitby.The family is deeply appreciative of the care and compassion provided by all the staff and caregivers at Taunton Mills.Howard often emphasized: That when the one great scorer comes to write against your name he writes not that you won or lost but how you played the game-on and off the course. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Hoing Seto (司徒褔舉) on February 4, 2020.He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Tse-Ling, his children Fabian (Corrine) and Susan (Emma) and his grandson Alexander.Hoing was born in Hoiping Kwang-Tung China, the youngest of three siblings. He emigrated to Canada as a young man at the age of 14 with the assistance of his Uncle Seto Ying of Bowmanville.He worked in restaurants in Woodstock and Bowmanville before settling in Oshawa. Upon settling in Oshawa he became a partner in The Globe Restaurant.After retiring in 2001, he enjoyed a simple life, enjoying walks along the Oshawa Bike Path, watching the stock market, going to weekly Dim Sum and watching the horse races.He enjoyed a few trips to Hong Kong to visit his family. One of the highlights of his trips was visiting his home village in Hoiping, with his brother and sister, brother-in-law, wife, daughter and niece. He also visited and enjoyed seeing the Great Wall and Beijing.In his later years his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandson.Hoing will be missed by his friends and extended family from the Seto, Wong, Buchanan, Bennett, Tran and Le families.The family would like to thank staff from the LHIN Home and Community Care, Cancer Care Durham, the Emergency Room and Palliative Care at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and the Emergency and Paramedic Service of Durham Region.Visitation will be held at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres, Oshawa on Saturday, 15 Feb 2020 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by the service and interment.
