SCHUMACHER, Donald Henry Schumacher - December 16, 1928 - September 29, 2022
SCHUMACHER, Helen Rachel (nee Lynn) Schumacher - February 15, 1931-May 9, 2020
Donald Henry Schumacher, in his 94th year, passed away into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on September 29, 2022, at Lakeridge Gardens, LTC home, Ajax, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen, of 68 years, who passed away May 9, 2020.
Loved and remembered by their children: Daughter Gail (Dave), son Lynn (Deborah); daughter Brenda Kloiber (Frank - deceased); daughter Janet MacKeracher (Don), and son Grant (Elizabeth).
Proud and loving Grandpa and Grandma of: Louise (Jeff), Richard (Vida), Martin, Peter (Ashley) and Matthew, Ian and Heather (Peter). Also great-grandparents of: Eva, Frank, Clark, Benjamin and Cassie. Also sadly missed by Eric MacKeracher, who spent years with Don and Helen and all the family for every occasion and for no reason at all, to talk and laugh and share music.
Don’s career at Xerox Canada spanned for over 25 years. His efforts and abilities were recognized by the many President Achievement Rewards he was awarded.
These included travel around the world, to see places like Monaco, Acapulco and the Bahamas, which he and Helen enjoyed.
Don and Helen’s lives were filled with building a Christian home: a strong marriage and family. They knew and carried in their hearts the words:
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Don and Helen loved being about the Lord’s work. Their last “assignment” was at Bayfair Baptist Church in Pickering. Don helped with the building program, the tape and sound ministry and was on the Deacon’s Board. Helen and Don worked side by side preparing the taped services weekly and loved serving.
Helen was the nursery coordinator for over 30 years and loved being with the babies and the many volunteers that helped weekly. Don and Helen both loved to help people whenever they could.
They knew about people needing help and how God’s love would lift them and carry them always.
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me!
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me.
They brought this care for others into their home by offering hospitality to the members of the Church community and anyone who entered their home. The Schumacher home was abuzz with conversation and laughter, and food was in abundance. By this they showed their children and others their true testament of the faithfulness of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ -- their hope and trust.
The Lord has indeed been faithful and just throughout the years towards Don & Helen and has blessed their family generationally.
-------------------------
We would like to thank all the PSW’s from Saint Elizabeth Health Care for their care of Mom and Dad over the last few years and to Lakeridge Gardens for their care of Dad and for their patience and kindness.
Don & Helen - Together again, Forever with the Lord.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a CHARITY of your choice would be appreciated. Thank you.
Condolences may be offered at etouch.ca .
