Mom left in a hurry on the morning of Thursday February 16, 2017 for an early date with Dad.Yvonne Mathews in her 90th year was the much loved wife of the late Thomas Christopher McLarnon for 65 years. Courageously and with much grace contended with cancer for the last nine months. Unfortunately, after a valiant effort she succumbed to her illness and passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 7:45 AM at Sunnybrook Health Sciences.She was a faithful daughter of Frederick and Eudora Harriott, and a loving and gracious sister to Pauline Thompson, June Harriott Rhodd, Andrew and Israel Harriott, and in-laws Patrick Rhodd, Francine Harriott and Woodroe Thompson. Grand nieces Mya, Tasian and Melania Thompson.Yvonne was the stylish and fun loving aunt to Adrian and Christopher Thompson, Joshua, Timaya, Jessica and Isabella Harriott and Alexander Rhodd. She had three lovely God Children Chantelle Russell, Verone Rodriques and Vanessa Thompson Watts.Yvonne will be missed dearly by her extended family in the United States, England and Jamaica. She will be remembered fondly by her many friends and also literary fans who have come to respect her as a creative writer. Her Facebook friends will definitely miss her daily quotes, her hilarious stories about her shoes, her adventures with her mom and more.Yvonne is now resting safely and comfortably in the hands of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.Visitation will be held at the DESTEFANO FUNERAL HOME, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport)905-440-3595 on Friday, April 15th from 6:00-9:00pm. She was an active member in Kinsmen for many years as well as in Markham Mates, the ladies support group of the Barbershop Chorus in Markham. Her friendly face, sociability and infectious laughter will be fondly remembered.
