With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather, John Bertram Davies.
Dad graduated from the University of Toronto in Dentistry in 1955 with one of two gold medals.
He married the love of his life Anne White (predeceased) and went to work in Newfoundland for the Red Cross on the St. Barbe coast, Woody Point, Cowhead and Port Saunders.
He returned to Whitby and opened his practice where he eventually built his own office and practiced dentistry for 42 years.
He was a charter member of the Whitby Curling Club serving as President for one year.
He was on the board of the Ontario Ladies College from 1959 – 1991 serving as Chairman from 1968 – 1992. He enjoyed cruising and went across the Atlantic 5 times.
Cottaging on Clear Lake was something he enjoyed for many years with his family, entertaining many friends along the way. He leaves behind 3 daughters, Sue (Hal) Bonnetta, Judy (Ford) DeFinney, Jane (Brad) DeFinney, and 6 grandchildren, Graham (Jodi), Peter (Niki), John (Bri), Megan (Steve), Briar and Katie.
He also had 7 great grandchildren, Victoria (predeceased), Keira, Brinley, Chad, Olivia, Jillian and Eleanor.

A visitation for John will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 1:30 PM. The family requests that masks are worn at all times during visitation and service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.

Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 29, 2022 at his home in Oshawa, Ontario, at the age of 80 years old.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Vilma Yvonne Folkes (nee Reid); his children Shawn, Angel and Paula (David); his brothers Mico and Junior; and his grandchildren Liam and Felix.
John was first and foremost a deeply religious man who loved Jesus and enjoyed scholarly discussions about the Bible.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, John and his wife Vilma immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1967, following the completion of his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of the West Indies.
Holder of a doctorate degree in English literature from the University of Toronto, which he earned with high distinction, John was an educator who taught Toronto area high school students for over 22 years in the subjects of English, English as a Second Language (ESL), and dramatic arts. John also holds a Master’s degree in English and Economics, as well as a Bachelors of Education.
John loved music and composed over 350 original songs, with his composition “Oh Carolina" recorded in 1957 often cited by historians as the origin of Reggae music.
John was both a lover of poetry and a poet, an avid reader and author, and a playwright who sometimes created original scripts for his students to perform for the school play.
He was a true academic in all respects.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOMEe, 124 King St. E. Oshawa, ON, L1H 1B6.
A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will be immediately following at Union Cemetery, 760 King St. W, Oshawa, ON.

Peacefully on Sunday, August 28th in his 67th year at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering.
Derek will be sorely missed by his life partner and best friend Terri Donovan.
Survived by his sister Penny (Bill Thompson).
Predeceased by his older sister Patricia Root.
Remembered by his nieces and nephews all in British Columbia.
Derek will also be remembered and missed by his workers at Cornerstone and Carea Community Health Centre. Special love and thanks to Ari and Vithusan. Derek was a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
He loved lacrosse, snowmobiling and racing. In 1970 he received a reward from Darryl Sittler of the Toronto Maple Leafs naming him Junior Champion in the Canadian Snowmobile Circuit.
Derek was a talented musician, he learned to play the organ and trumpet by ear.
He will be truly missed by his many friends.

Dorothy passed away peacefully at Haliburton Highlands Health Services on Wednesday August 24th, near her cottage where she loved spending time.
She was born on June 26th, 1931 to the late Peter Nekechuk and the late Eleanor Higgins.

We are saddened to announce the passing of a wonderful man, Donald James “Jim” Grieves.
Jim passed peacefully Friday, August 19, 2022 in his 94th year, surrounded by his family.
Jim was a loving husband and best friend of Julia for 70 years, meeting on her 16th birthday.
He will be dearly missed by daughters Leslie and Trisha, and sons-in-law Frank and Scott.
Predeceased by his son Jim.
He was a wonderful proud Grampa of his 7 grandchildren and their partners, Melissa, Olivia, Frank, Lauren, Katie, Maggie, and Heidi.
Jim found much joy from his great-grandchildren Amara, Brady, Frankie, Isla, and Poppy.

David passed away on August 22, 2022 after a brief illness.

It is with heavy hearts we announce that D. Murdoch Robertson passed away peacefully on Sunday August 21st, 2022 at Georgetown Hospital in his 89th year.
He is now united with His Saviour as well as his daughter and granddaughter.
Beloved husband of Eleanor for nearly 61 years (Sept 2).
Devoted father of John (Carolyn) Robertson, the late Sharyl Robertson-Cole, Heather (Greg) Stewart and James (Laurie) Robertson.
Very proud grandfather of Amanda (Matt), Chris, William, Kristyn, Thomas, Maira, Paige, the Late Kathryn, Geoff, Charlotte and Chris and great grandfather of Mackenzie and Luca.
Loving brother-in law to Peggy (late John) Robertson of Peterborough. Growing up in Ottawa, Murdoch’s first love was baseball until he met Eleanor in 1957. He earned his BSc (Eng) from Queen’s University ’61.
His engineering career spanned over 3 decades with both the Ministry of Highways (now MTO) and the City of Oshawa where he retired as Commissioner of Public Works in 1995.
He and Eleanor planned to spend their retirement travelling. However, after a life altering injury in 2002, he spent the rest of his retirement enjoying his family and continuing to live out his faith in Jesus through witnessing to others and service at the Oshawa Salvation Army.

Quietly at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, Doris answered the call of the angels.
Recently a resident at Bon Air Nursing Home in Cannington, she will be missed by the staff there where she was always on the move.
Prior to her time at Bon Air, Doris was a long-time resident of Gamebridge and Beaverton. She had many interests including cooking, quilting, sewing, crocheting and paint.
She was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Gamebridge, working with the ladies of the church and, for a time, as the church treasurer.
Doris is predeceased by husbands Ross McMillan and Tom McCuaig, by her daughter Rosilyn Fisher, by her sister, Marion Feasby (Lloyd predeceased) and sister-in-law Mary Steele (Ernie predeceased). She is survived by sister-in-law Betty Jean Wilson (David) and by her children, Ron McMillan (Barbara), Cathy Stiles (Ron), Ken McMillan (Kathy) and Gail Regic (Dan). Also survived by son-in-law, Creole Fisher.
Lovingly remembered as Nana by grandchildren Darryl Fisher (Heather), Warren Fisher (Kim), Carrie Harris (Chris), Jennifer West (Darren), Colin McMillan (Doris), Tim Swailes (Tonya), Alison Proser, Brad McMillan (Niky), Sarah Broadbent (R.J.), Jesse Regic, Ted Regic (Stephanie) and Wil Regic (Valerie) and 21 great grandchildren.
Fondly remembered by stepdaughters, Donna Clarke (Charlie Sherwood) and Elaine Vidler (Tom) and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
