Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in her 95th year.Beloved wife of the late Laurence Adamson (2009).Dear mother of Lynn, Vivian (Rick) and Jennifer (Gary).Loving Nana to Jason (Alison), Sarah (Ron), Vanessa (Dan), Valerie (Chad), Jeffrey (Helen) and Jessica (Pat). Dear Great-Nana to Ashley, Wayne, Evelyn, Hannah, Marcus, Audrey, Jax, Aengus and Rowan; Great-Great-Nana to Isabella, Donna and Jaxon.Fondly remembered by sisters Verna and Betty (Ron), and numerous loved nephews and nieces.Victoria was predeceased by her parents William and Catherine Vibert of New Brunswick, sisters Myrtle and Alma, brothers Milton (WWII), Merle, Donald, Lewis and Lyman.Victoria and Laurence met at the age of 19 when both were serving in the Canadian Navy at Halifax, Nova Scotia during World War II. They married in Toronto after the war and celebrated 62 years of marriage.Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, a private family graveside service in which Victoria will be laid to rest with her husband Laurence will be held at Lindsay.A Celebration of Victoria’s Life will be held in the Spring.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Victoria to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Ontario SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

It is with great sadness that Leyland family announces the death of Ernest (Ernie) Leyland.Ernest John Leyland, born June 1, 1939, St. Helen's, Merseyside, England.Passed away September 11, 2020, Ajax, Ontario.Ernie was a mechanical engineer, who worked and travelled extensively with the Merchant Navy aboard the M.V. Nottingham.After settling in Ontario, he married his wife of 49 years, Lynda. It would be a labour of love for more than 40 years.Ernie is survived by his wife Lynda (nee MacGregor), son Adam (Helen), and daughter Sarah (Mike). He was the proud Grandad of Charlie and Clare, and an ever loving Gaga to Ollie and Julian. He is also survived by his sister Irene, and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his mother Hilda, father Ernest, and sisters Theresa and Rita. At this time, there will be no memorial service due to pandemic restrictions.A celebration of life gathering will follow at a later date.If one so desires, donations may be made to the Toronto Zoo

(May 29, 1937 – August 12, 2020)With sadness and fond memories we announce the passing of Elinor Kidd, wife of Clare for 63 years and mother of David and Ian.Elinor was the sister of Carol Hardy, Steven and Norman Snelgrove, and Jan Woods.Elinor started her teaching career in Oshawa and she was a teacher-librarian in Whitby, Ajax, and Pickering. She was a life-long member of the choir at St. Mark’s United Church in Whitby and she sang with the County Town Singers. Her experience in choral singing was reflected in the excellence of the school choirs that she directed.Elinor’s energy and enthusiasm were evident in everything she did.She was a Past President of the Canadian Club in Oshawa and the Durham Region Concert Association. She was an active volunteer with the Oshawa Symphony and the Station Gallery in Whitby. She enjoyed her association with the Friends of the Library in Oshawa; books and camaraderie were a winning combination. An annual event she enjoyed working towards was the reunion for the Whitby High School “grads of another era.”When our boys were ready to join Scouting she became a Beaver leader and when they were in competitive swimming she was involved with the swim club. Elinor was talented in food preparation and with a close friend, ran a catering business. Her Lenten Lunches at St. Mark’s were famous.During two provincial elections she was the Returning Officer for Whitby and she also worked at Elections Ontario. At home Elinor was never still - knitting, doing needlework, or sewing a new garment that might be hemmed on the way to the party. Her day started with the crossword in the morning paper and after a full day would end with a meal that was “just right.”Her enthusiasm and cheerful smile will be missed by all who knew her.Elinor’s final journey was eased by the compassionate care she received from the staff at the Lakeridge Cancer Clinic and by support received from The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.Memorial Donations to either of those institutions would be appreciated.
