Passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, August 24, 2020, at the age of 94 years.Ephrem, the second youngest of 10 children, grew up on the Salmon River, south of Grand Falls in New Brunswick. He moved to Ontario in the early 1950’s and while working on construction of Highway 401, which went through the Keeler family farm in Scarborough, he met Joan Keeler.On December 28, 1957 they married, building their first home in Scarborough. They eventually moved to Claremont, where they have lived for 50 years.Ephrem will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Joan and his children, Marcelle (Rob) Elson, Glen (Jody), Gail (Mark), Lynn, and Mark. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Jennifer, Robin (Kevin), Laura (Julian), Danny (Maddy), and Levi, by his great-grandchildren, Cole, Ella, Milo and Eli, by his sister Marie-Anne (Terry) Bastarache, and by his brothers and sisters-in-law Lorne and Elaine Keeler, and Walter and Ria Keeler, and by his many nieces and nephews.Those who knew Ephrem know he hated being fussed over and would rather give than receive. To honour Ephrem’s character, we ask that all who wish to participate make a donation to Canadian Blood Services.The family wishes to send a special thank you to the nurses and volunteers at the Medical Day Unit of Markham Stouffville Hospital, for their care and compassion with his weekly blood transfusions.

Evelyn Cox was a lifelong resident of Scott (Uxbridge) Township passed away suddenly at Butternut Manor in her 91st year.Evelyn was married 44 years to the late Ivan Cox who passed in 1992 and was married to Bob Meek for the past 21 years. Evelyn is survived by her sister Noreen Crosier (the late Don) and late brother Morley Ross (Laura). Loving Mother of Gloria (Sandy Ewen), Murray (Elaine Walker) and Janet (James Rose). Grandmother to Lynne Wilkinson, Susanne Armour, Jeffrey Ewen, Robert Cox, Trevor Cox, Vanessa Rose and Kyra Rose. Great Grandmother to Tyler and Brooke Wilkinson, Meara and Elyse Armour, Katie Cox, Addison and Ryland Cox. Evelyn was also a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews.Evelyn was also a great stepmother to the late George Meek, the late Ruthanne Meek, Carol Mallet (Rick) and David meek (Dorina) and their respective families. Evelyn Regularly attended Sandford United Church and was always there to help with fund raising dinners for the Sandford Community and Volunteered at the Cottage Hospital.In lieu of flowers, donations to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation, Sandford United Church, Community Living Durham North or a charity of your choice which would honour Evelyn’s life.A Private Family and Close Friends Service will be held at the Foster Memorial Cemetery, after which Evelyn will be laid to rest with her late husband Ivan.

His pain has ended on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Bud, at the age of 90, was the beloved husband of the late Rene for 55 years. Loving father of Charlotte Hemington (Terry Copps) and Larry Mercier (Patty). Cherished Papa/G-Pa of Becky Blair, Rob Hemington, Michelle Johnson, Jennie Stacey, Abby Mercier and Molly Hempen; great-grandfather of 6.Bud and Rene moved to Uxbridge in 1957, where he built the family home, was a proud member of the Uxbridge Royal Canadian Legion and worked at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. He enjoyed working with his hands, and was a good carpenter until the time he lost his sight. The family wishes to thank the staff of Butternut Manor, the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and Doctors Doobay and Casella for their love and care of Bud.A Private Family Memorial Service will take place. Interment will follow at the Uxbridge Cemetery beside his wife. If desired memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated by the family.
