Fred Mason passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry Hospital on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the age of 98 years.

Loving husband of 74 years to the late Berneice Mason (nee Giles) until her passing in 2021.

Fred was born in Lakefield, Ontario, the sixth child of Margaret (Janowsky) and Richard Lorne Mason.

Fred was a proud father of five children, Susan Mason (Patrick Case), Jane Rowe (Dr. Chuck), Nancy Iantomasi (Gerry), Dr. Mark Mason (Aranka), and Darcy Mason (Deborah).

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Bem, Sarah, Darcy, Anthea, Jeff, Jamie, Heather, Alex, Erik, and Amy.

He was a proud great-grandfather to Betty, Nancy, Mason, Maddox, Geri, Scottie, Elena, Baxter, Aydin, Kais and Aubrey. Fred began work as a draftsman and tool designer at GE in Peterborough.

As a young man Fred was a successful Big Band singer with a golden voice and he continued to enjoy singing throughout his life.

He and Bernie enjoyed a wonderful social life with friends and family at their winter home in Clearwater Florida and at the cottage he built on Kasshabog Lake.

Cremation. A family Celebration of Life and interment at Hillside Cemetery Lakefield are to be arranged at a future time.

Fred Watson died peacefully on Thursday, May 30 surrounded by his family, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He was 79.

Beloved husband of Geri Inglis and father of his treasured son, James.

Also survived by his brother, Andy (Nancy), several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Archie (2005) and Jennie (2010), and brother Ron (2022).

Fred was born in Weston ON and spent his first five years on the family farm in Etobicoke and was eldest brother of Andy and Ron.

The family then moved to another farm in Ballantrae ON where he lived and attended school (Ballantrae PS and Stouffville District High School), excelled in athletics, and worked on the farm until he left to attend the University of Toronto.

Following university and teacher training, Fred taught History, Guidance, and Co-op Ed for the Durham District School board for 30 years. Fred and Geri spent much of their retirement travelling - often for the purpose of birdwatching, cruising, and enjoyed spending the winters in the sunny south, primarily at the southern tip of Texas.

Fred also enjoyed gardening, being a spectator of the NFL and NCAA football and basketball, and took up golf in his retirement. At one point he was in three golf leagues and golfed a 4th time during the week.

The family would like to invite friends to a memorial visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME , 5295 Thickson Road North Whitby ON on Friday, June 7 from 1pm to 4pm. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Thickson’s Woods Land Trust or the charity of your choice.

Passed away quietly on May 23rd at the Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife Hilda of almost 67 years.

Proud father of Harriet who gave him constant and loving care.

He was always so grateful for the support of his son in law Nick. Much loved grandfather to Meagan and her companion Matthew. And Grandpa M to Melanie and Christine.

Dearly loved by his sister Edna Jenkins of Cambridge, Ontario, and predeceased by his other sister, Naomi Pryce. Uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He was a Toronto Dominion Bank manager for many years and a volunteer for various organizations, and an active member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Fred learned to love his Lord and trusted Him with his eternal life.

Eagerly looking forward to being a Great Grandfather to baby boy (Ritter) due in July.

Dear brother of Wilf (Lorraine) Lawrenson, Rhoda (Rob Bowman) and the late Dorothy (the late Ivan Bell), the late Jack (Dorothy) Lawrenson, the late Netta (the late Gerald O'Marra), the late Marg (Don Summerfeldt) and the late Edward Lawrenson. Dave was a man of many talents and interests.

Heavy machine operator and AZ truck driver by trade. He loved to sing and play his guitar and could play most instruments by ear.

He sang gospel music with his sisters Marg and Rhoda in the band Damascus Road for many years.

In his later years Dave became the Pastor of Churchill Church in Ballantrae, Ontario. Dave will be greatly missed by all his friends and family for his quick wit, sense of humour and his love of music.

Most of all we will miss his chats full of love and his unparalleled wisdom and advice.

Dave loved God deeply and poured that love out in service to family, friends, and everyone he met.

“Uncle Frankie” passed away peacefully in hospital on Friday April 19th, 2024.

He was in his 80th year.

Frank is predeceased by his brothers Fred and Dennis (2022) and is survived by his brother Ray (Helen), his nieces and nephews, and their children.

Frank was the eldest of four Scarborough brothers who shared an unbreakable bond with each other.

Whether it was in a social setting, at the hockey rink, or on the baseball diamond, seeing all four Jeffery boys together was the norm.

The Jeffery family would like to thank Frank’s friends on Nelson Street and the members of his “coffee club” for making his later years in Bowmanville rewarding and enjoyable.

Special thanks to the Critical Care staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville for their heartfelt care and compassion during Frank’s final days.

A celebration of life will be held from 5pm-9pm on Friday, May 3rd at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178, 109 King Street East, Bowmanville ON, L1C 1K8. All family and friends are invited to attend.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Fran Smith on April 11, 2024 at the age of 84.

Fran was born in East York on January 22, 1940 to loving parents Len and Mabel Trodd.

From an early age, Fran was a go-getter who always worked hard to reach her goals. At the tender age of 16, Fran met her one and only love Norman Smith who she married on June 27, 1959.

Throughout their lives together, Fran and Norm traveled the world extensively.

Fran volunteered as the President of HLPOA for many years and was also involved in various charities in Mexico. Her efforts helped make both communities a better place.

Fran is survived and forever will be missed by her devoted and loving husband Norm, daughter Lenore, son-in-law Blair and daughter-in-law Grace. Cherished and caring Nanny to Colin (Melissa), Craig (Teagan), Lucas and Aaron. Proud Great-Nanny to Cole, Audrey and Aria.

Fran is also survived by a host of dear extended family and special friends.

Fran was predeceased by infant daughters Christine (1963), Louise (1964) and beloved son Robert (2020).

A funeral service for Fran will be held on Saturday April 27th. Arrangements with Destefano Funeral Home.

In memory of Fran, the family requests donations be made to Parkinson Canada or a charity of choice.

Fran and Norm were known as the couple who never left the dance floor.
