It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ona Hackner.
Ona passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, February 11, 2022 in her 92nd year.
She was born on the family farm just south of Sandford to Milbourn and Audrey Meek.
She lived there with her siblings, Bob, Norman, Helen and Gerald until her marriage to the love of life, Bruce Hackner on November 1, 1950.
Together they raised 6 children, Mary (Bastiaan), Arlene, Jim (Sandra), Leona (Tom), Donald (Dena), Stephan (Lisa).
She was the loving grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Mom loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and her family and we loved her.
Mom’s love reached beyond her immediate family to her siblings and their spouses, and Bruce’s sister Ilah Weller, a multitude of nieces and nephews, cousins and her community.
Whatever she set her hand to do, she did it with excellence.
She will be greatly missed. Her unconditional love, her unfailing support and spiritual leadership will leave a great void in our lives.
Therefore, we thought it fitting to have any donations go to a food bank of your choice, Family Worship Centre which was her home church, Parkinson’s Society or a CHARITY of your choice.
A private family service has been arranged.
