It is with broken hearts that the family of Patricia “Trish” Loten announce her sudden passing on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the age of 50. Beloved mother of Ryan (Faith) Lapointe, Matthew Lapointe and Kirsten (Zack) Thompson. Loving grandma of Jane Thompson. Cherished daughter of Doug and Elaine Loten. Treasured sister of Kerry (Bryan) Tolson and Kristy (Andrew) Powell. Loving aunt to Jack, Madyn, Ben and Daryn. Much loved granddaughter to Lillian Dezell and predeceased by grandfather Eldon Dezell and grandparents Bill and Muriel (Gramms) Loten. Was loved and will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

Trish had a deep love of family and always looked forward to family gatherings whether spontaneous or planned like Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She always enjoyed playing cards with the family and frequently had 5 Crowns night on her days off with her Mom and Dad. Trish had a great love of animals, especially her two cats Nala and Autumn. When relaxing in the evenings, she always said she was about to watch some “Trashy TV”. Her love of music began in high school where Trish excelled at playing the flute in the St Clair band. This eventually changed into a love of less classical music like Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams. Trish loved reading and going for walks on the boardwalk by the Sarnia Bay.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Trish’s life will be held at the Smith Family Centre (in front of Smith Funeral Home), 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 2 to 5PM with Words of Remembrance at 3PM. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Diabetes Society, Sarnia Humane Society or Canadian Mental Health Association (cheques only at the funeral home please).

HAUKIOJA, PAUL ALEKSI 1930-2024 Born in Lahti, Finland It is with sadness that we share the sudden passing of Paul Haukioja on July 9, 2024, at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 94. Predeceased by his wife, Seija (nee Virtanen); and his two brothers and their wives, Oliver and Sara Haukioja, Sulo and Aili Haukioja. He is survived by his daughter, Marietta Walsh (James); and his son, Ken Haukioja (Audrey); and 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Paul and family spent many years living in Northern Ontario, South Porcupine. He loved fishing and hunting. For the last 7 years, he made Suomi-Koti his home, among Finnish friends and fellow residents.We would like to thank MG Hospital and Suomi-Koti for their kind and professional care. As per our fathers request, the funeral arrangements will remain private.

Beloved husband of over 60 years to Gail(nee McCutcheon). Loving father of Deborah(Henry) Molenhuis of Collingwood, Cecil(Carole) Hayes of Waterloo, late infant baby Charles and chosen daughter Carla(Jack) McNamara of Maxwell. Cherished grandfather of Jayna(Donovan) Robinson, Devin(Kristi) Molenhuis, Daniel(Rachel Costello-Hayes) Hayes, Jennifer Hayes and Lauren McNamara. Dear brother of Peggy(the late Wayne) Ferris of Feversham and Peter(Glenda) Hayes of Maxwell. Dear brother in-law of Claude(Louisa) McCutcheon of Dundalk and Jim(Jean Coward) McCutcheon of Sydenham. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Paul was born December 15, 1944 in Flesherton to the late Wm. Cecil and Shirley Hayes. He was an active member of Shrigley Evangelical Missionary Church and was known to all for his faithfulness and generosity, serving God and helping many neighbours and friends in any way he could. Paul and Gail were Dairy Farmers working together on the farm where Paul was born, near Maxwell.

The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Wednesday, July 24 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service from Gentle Shepherd Community Church, Eugenia, on Thursday, July 25 at 11am. Interment Maxwell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Medical Ministry International or Crossroads Christian Communications will be greatly appreciated.

Phyllis Marie Giberson of Johnville passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the River View Manor in Bath. She was born March 31, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Bartlett and Flora DeMerchant. She was also predeceased by her husband, Donald Giberson; son, Brian Giberson, great granddaughter, Dahlia Jensen; son-in-law, Murray DeMerchant; siblings, Juanita Bowater (Lloyd), Avery DeMerchant (Marion), Lowell Demerchant (Joan), Lila DeMerchant, Arthur DeMerchant; sister-in-law, Jean DeMerchant.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Madonna DeMerchant, Dwayne Giberson (Helen), Terry Giberson (Beverly), Sonia Ruff (Calvin), Tina Moore (Dana), Lana Black (Marc); daughter-in-law, Shelia Giberson; 18 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; siblings, Robert DeMerchant, Keith DeMerchant (Mary), Myrna Pacione (Peter); several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Road, Florenceville-Bristol, on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. from the Holmesville Free Will Baptist Church. The interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Donations made to the Holmesville Free Will Baptist Cemetery, or the CNIB would be appreciated.

The family wants to express their deep gratitude and thanks to Lori MacDougall for all her wonderful care and support for Phyllis over the last couple years. It was greatly appreciated.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ellen Arber. Patricia (Pat) passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 15th.

Pat was a devoted wife to the late Ross Arber, loving and supportive mother to John (Donna), David (Nicole) and Jana Bartley (Fred). Very proud Nana to Lauren, Michael (Lesley), Matthew, Rachel and Ashley.

Pat dearly loved her family and vast network of friends from her Sorority sisters, her 'cottage' family from years spent at Harcourt Park, her beloved church and choir group and friendships made during her and Ross's extensive travel.

She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and all those who's lives were touched and enriched by her generous heart and caring spirit.

A service and reception celebrating the life of Pat will be held on Tuesday June 25th from 12:00pm - 3:00pm at Newcastle United Church - 84 Mill Street South, Newcastle.

Penny was born July 25, 1948, in Dunnville, Ontario, to the late Jean (Hanna) and Harold Elliott. Penny was a longtime resident of Burlington, Ontario. Penny is survived by the brightest light in her life, her daughter, Elizabeth Bannister (David Yan) of Whitby. Penny was a member of an extensive family, and is survived by several siblings, including her sisters, Janet Elliott (late Ivor Johnstone), Patricia Bass (Wolf Herold), Germany, Heather Elliott (Martha Cole), Nan Elliott (Wallace Krawczyk); her brothers, John (Jack) Elliott (late Norma); and Benjamin (Ben) Elliott (Joan Moore). Penny was predeceased by her sister, Carol Jorgensen (Ralph). She is also survived by her cherished friend and "sister of the heart", Klara Knudsen, and her family. Penny graduated from Sheridan College, then worked as a Registered Practical Nurse at Allendale Long Term Care, Milton. She was a seeker and spiritual person throughout her life. Penny was strong, practical, loved music, nature, people, the beauty around her, was kind, and worked hard to live a positive life. Penny attended Hope Bible Church. Penny's family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Creek Way Village, Burlington, for their dedicated and cheerful care during her years there. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home – Burlington Chapel (2241 New Street, Burlington). Suddenly, after a brief illness, Peter Dimoff passed in Holland Centre on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at age 69. Cherished husband of 48 years to Brenda Elaine Dimoff (nee Seip) and father of sons Justin (Katherine), Shawn (Logan), and Aaron Dimoff (Anca). Proud grandpa of Katelyn, Kelsey, Karianne, Kinley, Ava, Raena, and Devyn. Also survived by his mother, Shirley Dimoff (nee Glasser), brother John (Anne), sister Susan (Bernard), and sister-in-law Katherine Seip.

Predeceased by his father William Dimoff, his special grandparents, Margaret Greta and Alec Miladinov, and parents-in-law Howard Edwin and Rita Seip (nee Hamel), and brother-in-law Wayne Seip. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, neighbours, and Luther Ranch community.

Peter had a long career in the mental health sector and as a Human Resources Director and Consultant. As such, he extended his talents as a long time member and contributor at the Luther Ranch and neighbouring Participation Lodge in Holland Centre. Away from work, he enjoyed music, the outdoors, golf, and spent extensive hours serving the church ministry. He will be truly missed for his sense of humour and creativity.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Christine Smaller, will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Annesley United Church in Markdale, with a visitation 1 hr. prior to the service.

Pauline Shaw, was born in Poland August 28, 1921. She came to Canada when she was two years old. She died in her sleep at Winchester Glen Retirement Community, Bayshore Transitional Care Unit. She was 41 days short of her 103rd birthday. She lived her whole life in Oshawa, and her senior years were spent at Sunrise Seniors Place. Pauline (Pashie to family and friends) is predeceased by her husband Robert John Shaw (Jake) 2001. They are survived by their three children, Karen McIntyre (Dennis), Michael Shaw (Irma), and Karl Shaw (Martha d.) She is also survived by daughter-in-law Joanne Shaw and sister-in-law Shirley Sciuk, grandchildren Michael McIntyre, Caroline Shaw and Laura Shaw and three great grandchildren, Cameron and Holly McIntyre and Frankie Shaw.
Pashie loved opera, books, dogs, impressionist art, playing cards, documentaries on TV, the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs. She abhorred gossip and pettiness. She used a computer for games and email up until her 100th birthday. She lived very much in the present and moved with the times. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and was loved in return. She will be missed for her quick wit and sense of humour.
Thank-you for the kindness and care from the PSW’s and staff at Sunrise Place. And Thank-you to the nurses and PSW’s and Dr. Wayne at Bayshore TCU. Pashie always said she was the luckiest person in Oshawa to be in your care.

Paul Painchaud

It is with great sadness to say that Paul Painchaud passed peacefully at his home on July 4th. He was predeceased by his brothers Ray and Gerry, his son Gord and sister-in-law Judy. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rosemarie, son Ron (Cheryl), daughter Anita, grandchildren Erik, Troy (Kim), Kristin and Kelsey (Leo), great grandsons Jake, Zack and Noah and brothers Bob(Joyce) and Larry.

Born in Saskatchewan in 1937 the family moved to B.C. when he was 4 years old. He grew up in Coquitlam and spent most of his life there and moved to Duncan in 1994 after a few years in Whistler. He loved gardening and spending time in his yard and enjoyed time with his grandchildren teaching them about plants, walks in the forest, having them in his workshop. They have many memories of their time with him. Bon fires in the back yard was always a favorite with everyone.

Paul was a lumber inspector for a few years but worked as a carpenter most of his life, a trade he truly liked, using his skills to build a boat and his own homes. He also loved the outdoors, canoeing, fishing, scuba diving, horseback trips and many motorhome trips shared with his good friend of 80 years, Julien. Paul and Rosemarie also loved traveling abroad.

Paul had a quirky sense of humour that always managed to get a laugh out of everyone. We will all miss this.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He loved them so much and was so proud of his children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
