Ed is survived by his siblings Frank (Jane) Snyder, Marian (John) Vandermeer, Margaret (Kevin) Verkuyl), Henriette (John) Moelker, Anita (Don) Devries and Richard (Tiffani) Snyder. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, the Verbaan family, his countless friends and his church family. His love for God was his greatest attribute. He taught his family how to capture the excitement of every moment. He was my favourite moment of each new day. He was a highly respected businessman but his priority was always his family and his faith. Liz is survived by her son Robert Reid Condie and granddaughter Grace Elizabeth Condie. Liz will be sorely missed by Heather Newberry, who she considered the daughter she never had and a godsend during her illness.Predeceased by parents John Frederick Harry (Fred) O’Dell and Catherine O’Dell (nee Irish), paternal grandparents John Albert (Bert) and Olive O’Dell (nee Hartwick), and maternal grandparents Edward and Ida Irish (nee Burgess). Liz was always drawn to tropical breezes and soft waves. Having resided on several islands and continents, she cherished her travels and the friends she met. Upon returning home Liz devoted herself to Operation Migration and the people drawn to their mission. Due to Arrangements entrusted to W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL , Whitby. Memorial donations to the Oshawa Lakeridge Hospital Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Interment will be at Oshawa Union Cemetery.

(March 4, 1922 – April 26, 2020)It is with profound sadness that the family of Evelyn McBain announces her passing, due to complications of Covid-19, on April 26th, 2020 at the Orchard Villa Long Term Care Home.She was born on March 4th, 1922 and had just recently celebrated her 98th birthday. She was born in Darlington Township, the 7th of 9 children to Luther and Cora (née Tucker). She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses: Roy (Frankie), Bill (Eileen), Margaret (John), Marion (Russ), Sid (Laverne “Toots”), Gordon (Frances), Bob (Margaret) and Wally (Reta).Evelyn and Eldon Essery were married in 1940, settled on the Essery family farm where they both worked very hard, while raising their 3 children. Eldon passed away suddenly in 1984. Evelyn is a cherished mother to Art Essery (Sue), Scott Essery (Karen) and Marion Mills.Loving and proud grandmother to: Dan (Erin), Darin (Becky), Tammy (Shawn), Alex (Matt), Lee Ann, Cathy, Scott, Kim (Rich) and Mandy (Phil). “Grandma Evie” has 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren! Most recently, Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Malcolm (Scotty) McBain (“Grampa Scotty”) for 12 years. Theirs was truly the story of meeting the “love of their lives” at age 79. Scotty passed away in 2012.Evelyn will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.She had an awesome work ethic and nurturing manner, which served her well in her long career in nursing. She sang in the choir at Courtice United Church and then at Faith United for many years, from 1948 onward. She was an accomplished card player, formidable at euchre! Bowling and Blue Jays’ baseball were also favourite social activities. She supported her family and friends with a fierce, “take action” kind of loyalty, always offering help in her gracious way.Her home for the last 3.5 years was Orchard Villa Long Term Care. Our family thanks the staff, volunteers and even other residents who provided care, and importantly, acknowledged our mother/grandmother with dignity.Arrangements have been entrusted to the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Durham Regional Highway 2, in Courtice, L1E 2R7. There will be a Celebration of Life once restrictions for Covid-19 have been lifted, and interment will be at the Orono Cemetery, at a later date, where she will rest with her parents.If you would like to make a donation in Evelyn’s memory, please do so at the CHARITY of your choice.

Died peacefully, on April 24th, 2020 at the age of 89, and is resting with our Lord.Deeply loved by daughters Lisa (Robert) Theis and Catherine (Michael Katz) Legere, his grandchildren Nicholas, Samantha, Dalton and Jennifer,his brother Benny (Anne), and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.Ed is predeceased by his brother Art.Anyone lucky enough to spend time with Ed and his beloved brothers Benny and Art will not easily forget the joy they brought to any gathering.Ed was born in Joggins, Nova Scotia, in 1931, to William and Lena (nee Hebert) Legere. Ed moved to Ontario as a young man and worked at a number of companies, including Wonder Bread, where he delivered bread by horse and buggy, and Ontario Electric, where he developed many close friendships.Along with his first wife Mary (nee Shier) and dear friend Charlie, Ed successfully ran Fastway Supply in Scarborough for over 20 years.With his second wife Ethel (nee Cormier) Ed spent his retirement years exploring destinations such as Hawaii and England, and escaping the Canadian winters in their condominium in Florida.Ed had a strong faith that sustained him through difficult times.In the last few years of his life, he often told his daughters how good his life had been and that he hoped people would not feel too sad when he was gone. We will try.But just as Ed and his brothers were the life of any party, Dad was the life of our party and we will miss him terribly.Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass and memorial will be arranged as soon as it is safe to do so.
