(June 15, 1954 – October 25, 2020)It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Glen Metherall. He passed away at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital, with his wife by his side, on Sunday, October 25, 2020, after a seven-year battle with cancer.Glen leaves behind his wife Karen, of 38 years, and son Brady.Also surviving him are his siblings Robert “Butch” (Patricia) of Uxbridge, Linda Featherstone (Gary) of Sandford, Cindy Shaw (Todd Fisher) of Little Britain, Allan of Cannington, Les (Cherece Dinsmore) of Udora, and Laura of Udora. His nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends will fondly remember Glen, his wit, and humour.His parents Les and Hazel and his brother Wayne predeceased him.Glen spent his spare time watching NASCAR races, air brushing, watching/feeding the birds in the backyard, looking after his gardens, fishing, and fixing/building/renovating around the house. His greatest enjoyment and past time was washing, polishing, and riding his motorcycle.Glen was a fighter, a real trouper, who never let his cancer become his disability; he bewildered members of the medical profession by defying the odds. Every doctor who treated him, and there were many, would comment “you are definitely an unusual and unique case, Mr. Metherall.”Glen, your fight is now over and you can finally rest in peace.Due to the current Covid-19 Restrictions, the visitation and service will be for invited guests only.In lieu of flowers, for those who would like to make a donation in Glen’s memory, please give to the Markham-Stouffville Hospital Foundation.

She was the cherished Mom to anyone who needed her love. It is with great sadness that the family of George Forrest Kydd announce his passing on October 22, 2020, at Lakeview Manor Beaverton, at the age of 93. He was born in Uxbridge on September 28, 1927 the only son of George Kydd Sr. and Nellie (nee Johnston) Kydd. He is survived by his wife Shirley (nee Veale) and children Jane and Gerry and grandchildren. Ashley, Madison, Lindsey and James and 7 great grandchildren. George grew up on the family farm in Uxbridge where he farmed for his entire life. He also built the Uxbridge Golf Course in 1958 on his existing farm land.He was actively involved in Hockey as a player in his younger years and later as a referee throughout the area. He loved horses and was a breeder and owner of a number of Standard Bred race horses.Due to Covid-19 restrictions on gatherings, a private family memorial service will be held.In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in memory of George to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.

(September 2, 1927 - October 17, 2020)With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George on October 17, 2020 in Toronto. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Marion, his daughters Laura Freeland (Chris) and Lynn Topp (David) and four grandsons, Steven, Michael, Alexander and Justin. George was born in Brisbane, Australia and came to Canada in 1954. George obtained his Civil Engineer degree at the University of Toronto and worked for the Ministry of the Environment for many years until he retired.He enjoyed a lengthy retirement and was able to continue pursuing his passion for travelling and gardening. Fiercely independent and principled, his spirit lives on in his family. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Cummer Lodge who have cared for George for the past 2 years, in particular his favourite caregivers Frieda and Marlene and Dr. Zeldin for their compassion and support during the final years of George's life.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no public visitation or service. The family asks for those who wish to honour George to make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a CHARITY of their choice.

Then came to Canada with her husband Oscar and settled on a farm in Beaverton. Ethel worked at Seeburn Industries for over 30 years. She was involved for many years with the Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, Br. # 135, dart league and the Rebekah Lodge.Ethel will be missed by extended family and friends.The family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. McCordic, Lakeview Manor nursing staff and all who took such good care of her.If so desired, memorial donations in memory of Ethel, to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
