MAL, Mona M. Mal - Tuesday, January 1st, 1946 - Monday, September 9th, 2024
It is with great sorrow, but firm faith in God's promises, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother Ji, Mona Mal, of Whitby, Ontario on September 9. She was 78 years old. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, whose life was marked by love, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Born on January 1, 1946 in Uttar Pradesh, India, Mona lived a life of selfless service to her family and community. Mona lost her parents, Harry and Isabella Smith, at a young age, and was raised by her aunt and adopted family. Mona attended high school in Meerut, India after which she completed a Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree in Sanskrit before embarking on an impactful teaching career.
Mona married Stephen Mal in January 1978. During their 46 years of marriage they had two children, Peter and Naomi (Shobha). Mona and Stephen lived in Halifax, NS from 1978 to 2009 where she was known for her generous hospitality, kindness and love which she manifested in their home, church, business and community. In 2009, they moved to Ontario to be closer to family.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and she devoted herself to sharing His love with everyone around her through her kind words, generous actions, and quiet prayers.
She is survived by her children: Shobha (Rob), Peter (Melodie), Don (Kathy), Noel (Shelley), Bala (Rajan), Mina (Shekar), Nina (Aijaz). As Dadi and Nani (grandmother) she brought joy, wisdom, and unconditional love to her many grandchildren (Shyla, Sean, Shabana, Amy, Jessica, Mark, Sarina, Rachel, Josh, Amiyah, Asha, Simeon, Ethan, Jacob, Nash, Revival, Matthew and Jamie) and great grandchildren who were the light of her life.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but we find comfort in the knowledge that she is resting in the arms of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to thank the entire team at Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry (ON) for their care and compassion during her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 12 at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home (5295 Thickson Rd, Whitby, ON) 905-655-3662. The family invites all who knew her to join them in honoring her life and faith.

MILLER, Yvonne Myrtle Miller - 26-Jul-1931 - 4-Sep-2024
Yvonne Myrtle Miller, 93, of Pickering, Ontario, passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2024. Yvonne was born on July 26th, 1931, to Stanley and Myrtle White of Toronto, Ontario.
After completing high school, Yvonne completed post secondary education earning a degree at the University of Toronto. A life-long learner, Yvonne then pursued a lengthy career sharing her knowledge, educating the young minds at Ajax-Pickering High school.
In 1948, Yvonne met the love of her life, Lorne Miller, together, they married, welcoming three children, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren over the course of their 73 years of marriage.
In her retirement, Yvonne was an active member of the church, participated with the Red Hat ladies, as well as enjoyed spending time with her family, travelling, quilting, cross-wording, and collecting books.
Yvonne will be remembered by friends and family for all of the love and guidance she provided, in addition to her quick wit, sense of humour, and appreciation of all things mystery.
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Myrtle White, her Son, Stephen Miller, and her grandson, Jeffery Ingram. She is survived by her husband, Lorne, her children, Cameron and Lynne (Dale), her grandchildren, Amy (Troy), David, Christine (Amanda), Catherine (Mario), Jeremy (Heather), and Jennifer (Carson), as well as 7 great-grandchildren.
Cremation to take place, and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Dunbarton-Fairport United Church, an organization Yvonne felt very strongly about.

Angus (Gus) William Miller passed away at the Extendicare Rouge Valley in Scarborough on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 91 after an extended fight with Alzheimer's.
He maintained an active lifestyle which included downhill skiing until he was 81. He had to go that year as he could ski for free (over 80). He had lived a full life with multiple interests including the Theater (over 1300 shows), both attending and participating in (Oshawa Little Theatre), gardening, Photography, he also traveled worldwide including Spain, Cuba throughout the US, Beijing, and many others as well as frequent Cruises.
He was an early Associate/Owner of a Shoppers Drug Mart from about 1968, opening one of the first stores outside of Toronto in the Midtown Mall in Oshawa, until he semi-retire around 1988.
The youngest of 5 children born to Rev. William and Elsie Miller. Being the only boy, I’ve been told he got playfully spoiled.
He leaves his children Steve (Michele Barron) Miller, Ken (Doris) Miller, Kelli Miller-Woodcock and stepdaughter Cathy (Brayden) Legere as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He will be reunited with his sisters Helen (Dave) Peters, Dell (George) Teeple, Jean (Alan) Furguson, Elsie (Chris) Huffman. Predeceased by his first wife Audrey Miller (Letcher) and his second wife Carol Miller (Ford)
Please join us in Celebrating His Life at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby, on Saturday September 21, 2024, Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery.

MELANIE, Pereira Tucker
It is with aching hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Melanie Pereira Tucker, a cherished daughter, wife, sister, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Known for her creative, kind, forgiving, humorous and fun-loving nature, Melanie was called to heaven on Friday August 30th, 2024.
Born on April 21st 1971, Melanie lived a life filled with tremendous passion for Guiding, music, and visual arts. She was a creative and compassionate educator at Little Ark Daycare for many years. She devoted much of her life to raising her children, and most recently, her beloved grandchildren Grayson and Braxton.
She is survived by her loving husband Michael Tucker, her sons Jacob (Gina) and Dalton, her parents, Janis & Michael Pereira, her sisters Michelle (Matt), Susanne (James), Nicole (Jay) and Danielle (Will), her nieces and nephews; Stephanie (Ryan), Tristan (Jordan), Eric, Alex, Brandon, Ian, Aidan, Leah, Ethan, Owen, Emma and Adam.
She was greeted with loving embrace by her brother John and other family members that went before her.

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28th 2024 at the age of 66. Cherished wife of Dale, and loving mother to Ashley (Albert) and Alisha (Steve). Beloved daughter of Barbara Bird and the late Robert Bird. Much loved sister to Karen (Yvan), Sharon (Bob) and the late Susan. Proud Grandma to James, Drew, Piper and Crosby.

Gayle Mary Mitchell peacefully passed away August 28th, 2024 surrounded by family at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.
Gayle was born September 6th, 1945 in Oshawa Ontario to loving parents Ernie and Rose Kehoe who she is predeceased by. Gayle is now with her husband, Jim and her son Troy and her sister Pam.
She will be remembered by her children Kelly Burnett (Jeff), Rebecca Mitchell and her sister Bonnie Simcoe (Ron). Her grandchildren Sarha (Kyler), Jess (Trevor), Emily, Alyssa, Nicholas, and Liam will miss her
very much. Her greatgrandchildren Tyden and Tinsley will miss their Nana.
There will be a memorial service at Mount Lawn Funeral Home on August 31st, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. followed by an interment in Mount Lawn Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that the family of Greta McIntosh announce her passing but take comfort that she is at peace with the Lord.
Greta was cherished daughter of Sybil & C.N Rutty (deceased). Loving sister to Jean, Marilyn and Joe (deceased) and survived by Anne.
Devoted wife for 69 years to Aubrey McIntosh. Wonderful Mom to Patrica (Jerry), Russell (deceased) and Lynda (Bill).
Much loved Grandma to Justin, Jennifer, Lindsay, Ryan, Michael & Caitlin.
Adored GG to Tyler, Emily, Jaxson, Sophia, Aubrey, Charlotte, Olivia, Sophie and Abigail.
Greta enjoyed a full life surrounded by her tight knit family and awesome friends. In her younger years up to mid 60’s you could find her coaching and cheering her children at various sports. When not with the children, Greta could be found on the tennis court, in the pool or having coffee with the girls. And when evening came around, she loved a good dance party.
In her later years, she could be found on the golf course or shopping for golf clothes. And in the evenings, Greta continued to love a good party.

Loving Mother to Anna (Gary) Cassagnol. Proud Grandmother to Marc (Mary) Cassagnol, Matthew (Kris) Cassagnol and Chad Cassagnol. Adoring GG to Connor, Emmett, Nora, and Caleb Cassagnol.
Regina was born in Germany. She was predeceased by her parents George and Anna (Ostapowich) Schenk. As well as her siblings Walter, Joseph, Elizabeth and Nina.
Regina was loved by everyone who knew her. She was everyone’s “Nana”.
