It is with great sadness that the Long family announce that Phyllis Iona Long of R.R.8 Owen Sound passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System, Owen Sound on July 4, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

Phyllis was born in Markdale on January 24, 1938 to the late David and Margaret Fitzsimmons.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Long. Survived by her children Darlene Dee (Rick), Diane Long (Doug Day) and Brenda Long, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Predeceased by her son Allan Long and daughter Betty Anne Thomas.

Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.

66, of Bowmanville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 27, 2024 after a two-year battle with cancer.

Peter was born on September 9, 1957, to Antonio and Lina Polito in Termini Imerese, Sicily.

He moved to Canada when he was 3 years old to Toronto, Ontario. He later started a career as a Produce Manager for Loblaws for almost 50 years.

In 1979, Peter met Sally, and they wed in 1983 going on to have 4 children, Anthony, Luca, Christopher and Sarah.

Peter was predeceased by his father and mother Antonio and Lina Polito, and his sons Anthony and Luca Polito. Peter is survived by his son Christopher (Samantha) Polito, and his daughter Sarah (Ryan) Smith. Peter was an adoring Nonno to his grandchildren, Lillian, Edward, Miles and Blake.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses of Lakeridge Health for all their kindness and care.

To honour Peter’s wishes, there will be no funeral services held. Interment will be held at Pineridge Memorial Gardens, Ajax on Friday July 5th 2024 at 1pm for those who wish to attend.

If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Paul was a longtime member of the Polish Veterans – Sikorski Hall.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. with Prayers at 2 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

Cherished grandmother of Stephen (Dawn), Darren, and Desiree (Troy) and great-grandmother of Austin, Jaden, Brandon, Lucas, River, Taylor, Victoria, and Max. Dear sister of Doris, Fern, Neta, Garnet, Johnny, and Ronnie. Predeceased by siblings Howard, Dean, Candace, Barbara, and Donnie.

Phyllis was adventurous, enjoyed fishing, and loved to travel and spend time with family and friends all over the world.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:30 p.m.

Interment will take place at Thornton Cemetery.

Passed away peacefully surrounded throughout her final days continuously surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday June 9, 2024, at the age of 96 years.

Wife of the late James “Jim” Vesey.

Loved and will be deeply missed by her children William Vesey (Anne Price), Janet Brunott (Ed Brunott) and MaryLynn Vesey (Rick Griesi) and her three grandchildren Ryan Brunott, Lian Griesi and James Griesi. Phyllis was born in Utica Ontario, where the past legacy of her family settled in 1851 after leaving Scotland.

After losing the farm in Utica during the depression she spent her early youth and all her teen years in Uxbridge. Phyllis bravely left Uxbridge at 18 to pursue her passion for fashion design and graduated from the Letchford Studio of Fashion Careers, in Toronto where her expertise of dressmaking, tailoring, millinery and design work were perfected and continued until she was well into her 80’s.

She married fellow Uxbridge boy Jim Vesey, her high school sweetheart in 1957 and built a life in the new area of the north end of Toronto called “Willowdale” to return to her hometown at 80 to spend the last part of her independent life in the area where it began.

Phyllis will be remembered for her true zest for life, travel, and her natural ability to make her children and grandchildren feel like she was their biggest fan.

But most of all she will be remembered for her wonderful spirit, quirky sense of humour where her infectious laughter made any dull day brighter, she was the real treasure…

She was a devoted mother to Edith, Lionel, Barbara, Derrick, Carlton and Kenny and a loving mother-in-law to Hyacinth, Rex, Oreska, Lorraine and Linda.

An extremely proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and their spouses, and 21 great grand kids, she was always overjoyed to hear about upcoming additions to the family.

Our family would like to convey our immense gratitude to the doctors, nurses, PSWs, private caregivers and friends who helped keep her comfortable in her last days. Rest in peace, Mum/Grandma/Granny - your spirit lives on in our hearts forever and will always be cherished.

Paul liked cooking extravagant meals for his loved ones, watching hockey and keeping things in order.

He would spare no expense for his children.

In his later years Paul enjoyed being a grandparent and taking care of his grandchild Helios.

Paul had a twinkle in his eye and a spring in his step knowing that his family would continue for another generation. No one made cupcakes and grilled cheese like grandpa.

As per Paul’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service, and cremation has taken place.

It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia ‘Patsy’ McKenzie (nee Dolland) announce her sudden passing on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the age of 76.

She was a caring mother, wife, sister, and friend.

Welcoming her with opens were her father Newstead, mother Laurel, brothers Carlisle and Roy, and sisters Barbara, Daphne, Kathleen, and Doreen.

Patsy will be lovingly remembered by her children: Jason (Melissa), Marlon (Kim), and Ryan; her husband of 55 years, Carlton; and her God-granddaughter Makayla.

Cousins, nieces, and nephews from the Dolland, Wiseman, Landa, Gransaull families. Patsy was born and raised in Trinidad.

Following her graduation from Dasent/Antoine High School in Sangre Grande, Trinidad she emigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1968, and then to Toronto, Ontario Canada in 1971, eventually settling in Pickering in 1976.

She spent her entire 35-year working career at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce or CIBC. She embodied the Canadian dream working her way up from an entry level job at the Data centre to eventually becoming a Senior Bank Manager in the tall towers on Bay Street.

After retirement, she took pride in her role as treasurer for the charitable organization Families for a Secure Future which serves adults with developmental disabilities.

Patsy was a devoted and dedicated mother. Her pride was in her children, and she shared many valuable life lessons while balancing her career and home life.

She had an uncanny ability to find joy and happiness in the simple things.

Everyone will remember her for her love of music, love of laughter and love of cooking.

She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends. All who loved her dearly will never forget her generosity, wisdom, strength, grace, and undying love and care for them.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at McEachnie Funeral Home in Ajax from 4-8pm on Thursday June 13th. On Friday, June 14th at 12:30pm a funeral will be held at St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Anglican Church in Pickering, followed by burial at Pine Ridge Cemetery.

All are then welcomed to gather at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME Centre in Ajax to share memories and celebrate the life of Patsy.

For guests unable to attend the funeral will be livestreamed. A link will be provided once available.

He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

He cherished his children, and there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his kids.

Phoenix found joy in being a dedicated and loving father to his three children: Violet, affectionately called "Vizeli" by her father, aged 13; Ezio, lovingly known as "Hammy," aged 6; and Hazel, fondly referred to as "Squidgy," aged 2.

Phoenix has been with his loving wife Valerie since 2007. Their bond was one of love and support, and they shared many cherished memories together. He is survived by his mother, Mary, his father, Bill, his sister, Tabitha, and his niece, MiaRose.

Phoenix will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Phoenix had a passion for music and was an accomplished musician, enjoying playing, writing, and teaching music. His favorite bands included Metallica, Guns and Roses, Imminence, Eminem, Bring Me the Horizon, Architects.
