It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden at home passing of Richard Stephen MacRae, aged 66, on July 14th in Summerside. Born in Summerside on Dec. 15th, 1957 to parents Marjorie J. Gallant (Nee Wall) and the late Harold J. MacRae. Lovingly remembered by his cherished son, Alasdair MacRae (Summerside); Mother, Marjorie Gallant (Summerside), Sister, Joan MacRae (Terry Brauen) of Malpeque; brothers John MacRae (Rhonda MacRae) of Summerside and Darren MacRae (Charlottetown). Also left to mourn are nieces Kara and Emily Brauen (Vancouver, BC), nephews Jake and Parker MacRae (Summerside), and special friend Cindy Siu Yee Li (Burnaby, BC). Predeceased by father, Harold J. MacRae and his beloved daughter, Claire E. MacRae. He will be missed by many other dear family and friends.
Resting at Davison Funeral Home in Kensington. No visitation by personal request. A private viewing time for family and close friends on Monday, July 22 from 11am - 1:00pm, followed by a graveside committal service at St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Springbrook at 1:30.

With broken hearts the family of Ruth Haas sadly announce her passing on Sat. July 6, 2024. Ruth Babette Haas (nee Rehberger) was born in Pfaffengrund, Germany.

Ruth was the beloved wife of Hans for 71 years and the two were inseparable until her last breath. Ruth was the loving mother to Edeltraud (deceased 1982), Heidi (deceased 2022), Ilona, Hans, Michael and Kristina. Much loved mother-in-law to Chester, Antonella, Kerri and Peter. Precious Oma to Jason, Simone, Katrina, Austin, Lukas, Daniel, Thomas, Arianna and great Oma to Georgia, Daisie May and Sophie. Ruth will forever be loved and cherished by her sister-in-law Gretel and her many nieces and nephews.

Ruth and Hans were married in Germany and moved to Canada in 1956 with their eldest daughter. They settled in Oshawa in 1972 and raised their large family.

Ruth was a truly exceptional cook and was famous for her cheesecake, applecake, potato pancakes, rolladen and dumplings and of course her German coffee. Ruth and Hans loved to entertain family and friends at their home. Consider yourself privileged to have sat at her dinner table.

Those in the Oshawa community knew Ruth for her fiery spirit and kindness. Ruth leaves a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and zest for life. We will never forget her warm smile, big heart and sparkling blue eyes.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all.

Rob was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching from the comfort of his home. In his younger years he was active in many sports…hockey, baseball and was high school Quarterback on the football team. Rob’s father was the former Assistant Manager of the Whitby Dunlops and sports was a major influence in his life. Professionally Rob worked for the City of Oshawa and Region of Durham as a Surveyor and Construction Technician.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Ray in his 80th year, leaves behind his beloved wife Marilyn. Dear father of Christopher (Kim), Michael (Allison Duckworth) and the late Daniel. Grandfather of Calleigh and Margaret (Maggie).
Dear brother of Debora Johnson (Wayne), brother in law of Wendy Price (Allan Kent) and the late Heather Rottine (John). Uncle of Matthew & Peter. Predeceased by his parents Byron & Dorothy.

Ray enjoyed fishing, he was very diligent with his home renovations but above all he loved going for a drive…cars were a favourite passion of his.

Please join with the family for Visitation at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street, Oshawa on Wednesday July 17th from 6-8pm. Cremation will take place followed by a Graveside Service at Union Cemetery on Friday July 19th at 1pm.

Ronald Irwin Bowers passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa. Born on October 3, 1942, in Picton, Ontario, Ron was a beloved husband, partner, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend known for his adventurous spirit and love of life.

Ron spent his career as a heavy equipment operator at St Marys Cement, taking great pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, ATV riding, stock car racing, and anything that went fast. At his cherished cottage on Effingham Lake, he was known for his generosity often welcoming friends with a shot of Gibson whiskey or a cold Coors Light in his "bug-free zone" gazebo. Ron's life was greatly enriched by the community at Effingham Lake where he was well-loved and respected.

Ron is survived by his loving partner of 23 years, Mary Jane, whom he adored. Ron is now reunited with first love, Cecilia (Gibson), who left this world too early at the age of 51. Ron leaves in mourning his daughter, Rose Lamb (Sandy Fodey), stepdaughter Susan (Greg Lee) and their daughters, Kelly and Catherine. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Wallace and Elrena Bowers (Potter), and sisters Mable (Ken) Shelley, Bernice (Evan) Isenor, and Margaret (Cam) Miller. He is survived by siblings Marjorie (Ivan) Struthers, Kathleen Bowers, Walter Bowers, and Betty Breakenridge. Ron was loved and will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. His infectious laughter and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on July 19, 2024, from 12pm to 3pm at the Village of Taunton Mills at 3800 Brock Street North in Whitby, Ontario.

A special thank you to Noella Black and her team at the Village of Taunton Mills for being there through Ron’s journey, and for welcoming Mary Jane. Special thanks to Ron’s close friend, Stan Stein, for his love and support throughout the years, especially during Ron’s final weeks.

Son of Mary Dwyer, son of George Iwaszczenko, brother to Paul Iwaszczenko, and long-time partner of Sylvia Villegas.

He was the oldest of 28 grandchildren, nephew to 10 aunts and uncles and their partners.

Raymond was loved by everyone. With his infectious smile and bright eyes he made so many wonderful friends.

He lived his life fully with great joy from tour guide in the Yukon to trekking in Nepal.

He was a man of many talents and varied career choices, from jobs in agriculture, to lens making, and eventually becoming a teacher and school principal.

He loved curling, theatre stage managing, woodworking and his favorite pastime, bugging his kids.

He is survived by his children Dave, Sheri, Pat their spouses Joann, John, Kathy, his siblings Anne and Bill, and their families, his grandchildren Meriah and Rose, their partners Derrick and Alex, great grandchildren Allaura and Mina.

He has gone to go dancing once again with his beloved wife Betty, and to reunite with his mom Lila & dad Willard, siblings Barry, Sally and Sybil.

Rest in peace dad, we miss you already.
