GREEN, Lorraine Freida (nee FINKELSTEIN) Green - Lorraine Green, 85 of Toronto, passed away peacefully at home July 9, 2024.
Lorraine was born on August 31, 1938, to Bessie and Harry Finkelstein in Toronto, Ontario.
Lorraine attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and graduated as an registered nurse. She married Gerald Stanley Green in 1965 and together had one child, Paul.
Lorraine worked as a nurse and was dedicated to her profession, retiring from Baycrest Hospital. Lorraine was an avid traveler, and her favorite destination was Jamaica.
She was very passionate about supporting less fortunate children and families, often bringing supplies and toys to those in need during her many visits.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Paul Jason Green and grandchild, Stephanie Thornhill.
She will be missed, may her memory be a blessing.
HOUGHTON, Charles Evan - On August 1, 2024, in Toronto, at the age of 98 years young.
Dearly loved and cherished father of Carolyn; and grandfather of Aisling (Mat). A much-loved brother; he is survived by Margaret and June; and predeceased by Donna, Marydale, Earla and Janet.
He was widowed in 2018, having enjoyed a 56 year marriage to Beth Spracklin. He leaves many friends at the Russell Hill Retirement Residence. He will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews, whose adventures he watched with interest and care.
All enjoyed his very funny, but very kind, dry sense of humour. He was curious and engaged with people, events and ideas all his life.
Charles was a deliberately modest and humble gentleman; feeling everyone was deserving of kindness, dignity and generosity. Charles grew up in Markham, and was the son of Dr. Charles Leon Houghton and Margaret Dale Houghton.
In the 1940s he played trumpet in the WWB Orchestra, and maintained a lifelong passion for jazz. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto, and retired from Canada Life Assurance Company in 1989. He also worked at Security Benefit Life in Topeka, Kansas and Western Life in Hamilton, Ontario.
We will celebrate his life, and play some jazz, at a Reception, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Royal Conservatory of Music or Markham Museum would be appreciated.
WAUCHOPE, Frederick "Fred" Thoms Wachope -

Dr. Fred Thomas Wauchope, DDS, Implant Specialist, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, August 2, 2024, in his 73rd year.
Son of Valerie and the late Jack Wauchope; brother to Don (Elaine), Ted (Cathy), Jacquie (Jim), Elaine (Ken), and Kevin (Tracy).
Cherished husband of Cathie; beloved father to Tom (Chelsea), Jenny (Jayme), and Bobby (Polly); grandfather to Jack; and uncle to many.
Fred was a devoted father, an avid storyteller, and a truly authentic individual who radiated wisdom and compassion.
He loved spending time at the cottage, fishing, making bass fritters, the annual family golf tournament, gardening, and sports.
We will be gathering to celebrate his life on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga. Donations to Campfire Circle, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated.
NASH, Harvey - Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Harvey Nash on July 31, 2024, in his 99th year.
He was predeceased by his wife, Renee; son, Gary; and brother, Morry. Surviving Harvey are his daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Chris Wood; his grandchildren, Bret and Kwang Nash; his sister-in-law, Jean Yashinsky; and his nieces, nephews and their families.
Harvey was a successful pharmacist, operating several pharmacies in Toronto and London. Above all, he loved tennis - often defeating opponents in their 50's when he was in his 80's! He shared his passion for sports with Morry.
As per his wishes, there will be a graveside service on Thursday, August 8th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Farband Labour Zionist section of Pardes Shalom Cemetery. We say goodbye with great sadness.

AMSPERGER, Rev. Leo August - Passed away peacefully, at Humber River Hospital, Toronto, on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the age of 100.
Beloved brother to Paul Ramsperger and his wife, Louise; and uncle to many nephews and nieces.
Predeceased by his siblings, Anne, Charlotte, Cecilia, John, Arthur, Theresa, Marie, Pauline, Patricia, Catherine, and Rita (Betty).
Father Leo was well known for his deep faith and dedication to the Catholic Church as an ordained priest for 70 years. He genuinely cared for all humanity, was very generous, and lived a life of service to the Lord.
After his official retirement, he continued in his role as a priest, assisting at St. Ignatius Martyr Parish in Maynooth, and with the celebration of daily
Mass in a chapel in his country home, welcoming friends and encouraging them in their journey of faith. He enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors and enjoying the birds.
Upon his transition to St. Bernard's Retirement Residence, he continued to offer Mass, daily, from an altar in his room. A "servant of the Lord," a mentor, a brother, a friend, he was always an inspiration and an example of deep faith. He will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation will take place at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church (51 Hwy. 127, Maynooth) on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., with Father Malachy Ekezie presiding. Visitation will also take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (263 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto) on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. A High Requiem Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., with Father Daniel Utrecht presiding. Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Thornhill.
As expressions of sympathy, donations, if desired, will be accepted at: Madonna House, Combermere, St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto, or Our Lady Seat of Wisdom, Barry's Bay, and would be appreciated by the family.
FRASER, Douglas Duncan Fraser - aged 85, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a warm and loving man who, even in his final days, never lost his sense of humour. He left a lasting and positive impression on everyone who knew him and will be dearly missed.
Doug is survived by his loving wife Patricia Fraser (nee Verral) of almost 60 years, his children Heather Kaine (Andy Kenins) and Cameron Fraser (Tricha Fraser) and his brother George Fraser (Betty Fraser). He was the proud grandfather of Emily and Jack Kaine and Myles and Tiffany Fraser who brought him immense joy.
A dog lover for most of his life, Julia and Ella will miss their human papa.
Doug was an avid golfer and up until the last couple of years frequented the courses of Haliburton County with his hat, sunscreen and bug spray. Vacations were spent playing golf in South Carolina and Florida. For years he organized the Fletcher Valley Golf Tournament, a most anticipated community event. He always enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie he found on the greens.
A Chartered Accountant by profession, Doug’s meticulous nature and commitment to excellence made him a respected figure in his community.
For years he was the Treasurer of St. Peter’s Church in Algonquin Highlands where he could be found tallying up the proceeds from various church events including the most popular Thanksgiving dinner and summer pancake breakfasts.
Doug’s life was filled with love and laughter.
A celebration of his life will take place on August 31, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Peter’s Church, 1213 St. Peters Road, Algonquin Highlands.

BARBER, Douglas Joseph Barber -
August 23, 1942 – August 2, 2024
Passed away peacefully with family at his side at Lakeridge Health on Friday August 2, 2024 at the age of 81 years.
Loving husband of Muriel Goodson.
Proud father of Michael, Kathryn "Kate" (Dave), Rosemary (Scott). Grandfather of Julian, David, Samuel, Daniel, and Emile. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Evelyn Barber. Survived by his brother Ted (Lynn).
He will be missed by his nieces Marla, Shona, Jillian, and Hilary, as well as extended family and many friends. Douglas grew up in Toronto in a home filled with music. In his teens, the family bought their cottage in Caesarea where they, and then Doug’s family and friends, shared over 50 years of memories.
Douglas was the first student to register at York University and then went on to law school.
He began his law practice and started a family, and soon moved to Bowmanville where the family became involved with many community and church groups. Doug was proud of his children and enjoyed being involved in their lives as they grew up and had their own families. He especially loved when he could be part of their musical endeavours.
Later in life, Doug started a relationship with Muriel and the two married in 2009. Muriel and Doug had a loving partnership and were able to support each other through many good times and throughout Doug’s illness. He was happiest when sharing music with others.
Whether playing his bass with one of his many musical groups, organizing a “music session” for someone who needed it, or making a tape or CD for a friend or family member, to introduce them to new music.
Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME 847 King Street, West on Wednesday August 7, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday August 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all of the health care workers and friends that helped Doug through his illness both at home and at Lakeridge Health.

LOGIE, Scott Logie - an extraordinary human, athlete and avid cyclist, passed away peacefully in Toronto on July 28th, surrounded by his loving family.
Scott is survived by his beloved children, Jackson, Ryan, and Emerson; his father, Robin Logie (Jane); his devoted sister, Ann-Louise Logie (Cliff Tomas); his best-friend and brother, Alexander "Sandy" Logie (Tania Gasparini); and his treasured nieces, Landon, Alexxa, Sophia, and Vivian.
Predeceased by his wonderful mom, Mary Elizabeth "Liz." Scott's life was highlighted by the many incredible friendships and family relationships he built and nurtured: from his time at UCC to his years at Yale, studying and playing on the hockey team; then on to Wall Street and a long career in finance at Salomon Brothers; his marriage to Liz and the joyful raising of their three children; his love of travel; and his fundraising rides for cancer research as a proud member of Team Velominati.
Scott's legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
There will be a private Celebration of Life on September 22nd in Toronto.
